Sounds Great But Won't Charge ... and THEN
UPDATE: Jan 2012 After all this time it continues to work perfectly. No problems. Charges great. Sounds wonderful. Highly recommended. I've increased my rating from 4 to 5 as a result.UPDATE (after receiving replacement unit): I returned the unit that would not charge. How did I know? The red charge light never turned to three green flashing lights. Amazon quickly sent the replacement. It works fine. If your unit shows only a red charge light when plugged in please read below for some troubleshooting ideas before returning. Hope this info is helpful. Love the speakers.ORIGINAL UNIT: Out of the box, the speakers will not charge. The unit does play fine when plugged in and sounds great. But, a single red charge light shows instead of three green flashing lights to indicate it is charging. Called tech support (yes they answer their phone) and they had me try the following: keep the unit plugged in, turn it off, flip it over, push the reset button (with paper clip or pen tip) for 15 seconds, wait 15 seconds and turn unit back on. In my case, a single red charge light remained on. Tech said it was defective and to return it. I have now returned my unit to Amazon (since I had it one day) for replacement.Logitech tech support said that if the unit is charging properly what you should see is three green charge lights blinking up and down. When the unit is unplugged and fully charged all three green lights stay on. As the unit discharges, the three lights reduce to two green, then to one green and when needing a recharge the left light turns red. Will try to update this review when I receive the replacement. Meanwhile I am rating the unit 4 stars based on the defect and the fact that numerous other people have also had the same problem. I have many Logitech products and they are wonderful. It is puzzling why they have not corrected this issue instead of letting the customers discover the defective units for them.

Good for the orice and size
I use these speakers in hotel rooms while traveling with an iPod Classic 160GB. (I have also tested my iPod TOuch and an iPhone, all work with no problems and dock adapters are included). In my opinion, the sound is very good for the size. Don't expect this to rival your home stereo or much larger speaker systems, there's just not a ton of bass or very great highs, which is to be expected from a single, small active driver. Given that there is only one driver though, the sound quality is quite amazing. There's a certain 'coherency' that comes from having one driver which just catches your ear, and this system brings that out. The passive driver helps with providing decent bass response, in my comparison the best in systems of this size. I find sound quality best when I place the system on a desk or nightstand at least 12" back from the edge. I listen for hours without getting that feeling of being worn out by bad sound. The remote mostly works well, but there does seem to be a slight delay between pushing buttons on the remote and when the function on the iPod is carried out, I would guess about 1/2 second in some cases. Not a big deal when you get used to it. The volume control when used from the remote seems to be quite sensitive. This remote allows you to operate all functions of the iPod using the remote, which is a nice feature, assuming you're able to read the iPod screen from accross the room. There's a 3.5mm (little) headphone jack on the back to which you can plug in another device. I often use this to plug in my laptop, as these speakers are superior to my laptop speakers. by a landslide. (The cable is not included but only costs a few dollars at Amaon or BestBuy)If you want to use your iPod as an alarm clock, you can use this device as your speaker. I have found that in order for that to work reliably it does need to be plugged in to power. After your iPod has been off for a few minutes, the speakers will power down, but they will automatically power back up when your iPod starts playing a song as a result of an alarm. (This is a feature that has been added since the MM-50, which was the previous model on which this did not work)The power adapter is small and has a convenient holder to wrap the cord around. With cord and all, it will fit in the well for the iPod when traveling, and the whole combination, complete with remote, will fit in the included fairly small travel case. (With the predecessor MM-50 the power supply would not store in the case)The functions on the remote have been greatly extended since the MM-50, now you can control anything your iPod can do. The price you pay to do this is the loss of the iPod doc connector at the back of the unit. It used to be possible to plug the audio/video cable in the back of the MM-50, then use the video output to connect to a monitor or TV. Since this connector is not there on this model, you can no longer do that. (Probably for most people this is not a big loss since they simply use the speakers in the TV)The power meter showing battery level is quite useful. It also has an indicator to let you know when outlet power is plugged in, this is useful so you know for sure the internal battery is charging. The claimed battery life of 10 hours is a bit on the optimistic side, of course a lot depends on how loud you play the unit. My experience has been between 3 and 7 hours. While the unit is plugged in, the iPod or iPhone that's connected will be charged. While the unit is running on battery, they will NOT be charged. So make sure you have both your speakers and your iPod charged!I picked this unit after listening to and trying about 30 of them, based on ease of use, travel size, sound quality and its ability to take an input from my laptop. I travel about half the year so it gets frequent use and is carried in carry-on on a plane at least once a week. So far, it has lived and continues to work well.

my one true love... " WAS, my one true love" then like all things that seem too good to be true... it went to sheet!
I can't put into words how much I love these speakers! I take them everywhere I go!!! Sounds so sweet, and its very loud for its size. I am quite surprised constantly by how well it sounds. I get compliments on it everywhere I go.I am deployed to Ali Air Base, Iraq. This thing is my number one companion everywhere I go. I take it EVERYWHERE, all day at work, it sounds better than the truck stereo. I used to use a transmitter, but this sounds a lot better.Battery life is awesome. I use it ALL day long and just plug it in at night when I come come from work. Plus its nice that it charges my ipod too, because I dislike the 'DO NOT DISCONNECT' ipod sign flashing on my ipod when connected to my laptop.I only wish ONE THING. I wish that the ipod fit SNUG and securely in place. So that it couldn't fall out of its dock.It would be nice if I didn't have to worry about it falling off or getting loose while skateboarding or walking around with it.THIS THING IS AWESOME. I love it!********** Review Update- 10 June 2008 ***************The volume "+" button is broken!!!!!!!!!! I have to use my remote to turn it up! I would definitely drop the stars down to 1 star now. This thing was my pride and joy, until the volume button crapped out on me!!!!!! Ohwell, time to test out the customer support. Looks like I'm stuck with the broken unit until I get home from Iraq. WEAK SAUCE!!! I'll update this review when I test out the customer service on the warrantyAfter the love is goneWhat used to be rightIs wrong!
