Nexar Halocam Dash Cam | 32 GB SD Card Included

I wanted a seamless dash cam with ease of installation and a worry free app that I won’t have trouble dealing with. This fit the bill just right. Now be mindful that this is a WiFi unit. Not Bluetooth. The camera connects through WiFi on the camera to your phone. The Nexar app does require you have your location on all the time for it to auto start and stop recording. It also requires use of some of your data but I’m not completely certain on that. I have a unlimited data plan so no worries there. The actual dash cam install in the car was a breeze and there was a decent generic installation guide. I hid all the wires to the 12V usb outlet in the car and it looks great with no wires dangling anywhere. After that linking the camera to your phone through the app was seamless. The bulk of your time will be spent hiding the wires in your car if you choose to do so. The auto record and stop works pretty good. Only con is that you have to have the location setting on all the time if you have an iPhone. Androids I’m not sure but imagine it would be the same. Doesn’t drain my phones battery contrary to some of the other reviewers. The picture quality is exceptional during the day. It can make out license plates and everything else crystal clear. At night the picture quality is still good but it isn’t the best. I’m not saying it’s terrible at night. Just don’t expect the same clarity as during the day. It will record in HD and you will make out license plates depending on the lighting conditions and weather during night drives. All in all I’m very satisfied with this dash cam and couldn’t ask for anything more. I love the fact that it was easy to install and the fact that the app has been trouble free. It’s also great that you get unlimited cloud storage so it doesn’t just save your drive recordings on to your phone. It comes with an SD card in the box so it saves footages there too with the option of recording audio as well. In the app there’s also an option to link your insurance provider so if you do get into a fender bender you can just send your footage and other info straight your insurance company. However, this feature is only available with certain insurance providers. Overall I’m very satisfied with this product. Keep up the great work Nexar!

Are you serious? For $49 and same day delivery, you're going the get a dash cam that offers great picture/video quality and works immediately out of the box? Yes, they throw in a 32GB memory card so literally everything starts working the moment you get this, the same day you order....Wow. Although it's not perfect, you get the best value for the price. The video is HD but when cars are moving, it's hard to get the license plate reading. For night scenes, some lights can overexpose the video particularly the cars that are opposite direction facing you or street lights. Other than that, the app itself is a winner. You don't have to configure anything that can be too technical or confusing for non-techies. App does it all for you. Also, if you do get into a wreck, the app will gather all stats for you to send over to your insurance or to an email address. Even law enforcement. I like how it sections out your travels by video and mappings while you get to pick which scenes to clip for saving. Videos are saved in 2 locations. One to your memory card and the other to cloud that you can use for sharing. What I would like to see on their future product would be the ability to quick release the dash cam. If you don't want to leave your cam in the car, you have unscrew the swivel part, which loosens the plastic nut, which allows you to pop out the cam from the swivel joint. You then have to make sure you don't lose that plastic nut or the camera won't mount properly. I wish the camera detached magnetically like the HQBKING's 360 degree mini dash cam. That would have excellent to quickly attach/detach the camera. Also, I wish there was a way to mute the camera "on" sound when you start your car. Maybe there is one, but I couldn't find it. Every time I try to sneak out at night to go drinking, that camera scares the bejesus out of me as I slowly crank the key while my car is rolling down the driveway in Neutral. It sounds like my wife is yelling "AHA!!!!!"

Absolutely love this Dash cam, it was easy to install, my favourite part is that it’s Bluetooth connected to my phone, so I can view my entire ride directly on my phone without having to check the card out of the dash cam, I would highly recommend this item
