Excellent for even the thickest cat fur.
I was extremely dubious about this clipper but figured at the price, it was worth a go. We have a 17-year-old Himalayan cat who simply can't cope with her full coat in terms of grooming. While she views clipping as torture, it's still less stressful to do it at home, sometimes in stages (yes, there are times when we have a cat with three shaved strips in an otherwise full coat running around the house). In warm weather, we keep her in a lion cut and the rest of the year I do her throat, chest, "armpits", belly, and "bikini line", where the majority of matting and mess can occur.I normally use a regular pair of men's hair clippers but the past two have burned out too fast, overheated quickly, and tugged a lot, adding to our cat's distaste for the whole process. I liked the idea of this being cordless and having a narrower head to make it easier to get into all the necessary nooks. The instructions are, indeed, all in Chinese, and the unit comes with a Chinese plug but also an adapter. As a surprise, it comes fully charged, which I thought a bit odd--but quite nice. The unit doesn't have an "auto shut-off" or alert light to let you know when charging is done, and instructions warn you not to plug it in for more than 2 hours at a go or you'll short out the battery, which is a concern. It's very quiet and light, and I was convinced it was going to be useless. Imagine my surprise when it made short work of kitty's full winter coat, undercoat and all. As is the usual case with her, any shorter guides are useless (the fur is just too dense to allow them), so I use the clipper bare, without a guide, and just take care not to nick her. I had to pull fur free of the teeth quite frequently, but the clippers never jammed or tugged, not even once, and never overheated like the mains clippers used to.The clipper held charge all the way through the clipping and is still at "full", going by the light. I can't comment on the longevity, but it's far cheaper than a single session at the groomer and did a great job. Hopefully it'll be durable but, if not, it's inexpensive enough to still be a viable option.

I needed something quiet and easy to handle for touch up on dogs and to remove knots on older cats. It performs very well.

Get them!
bought to use on a cocker spaniel who has quite fine straight fur, when bought i thought if they only do one cut ive saved 12 quid on a professional groom. Well, ive now used them three times and they are brilliant, convenient enough to grab and tidy up any odd bits of fur, more than up to the job of a full groom and very easy to completely take apart and clean all fur from, cut like a knife through butter, when the guard is on you do have to stop every so often to remove fur that is between guard and blade as it slightly dulls the clipping action but its not a problem. it doesnt 'catch' the fur ,the dog doesnt mind them at all. Ive bought an additional pair in case anything happens to them and there are no more available! work best on a clean coat if you think they arent good take the actually blades apart and clean inbetween, really easy to do and put back together. one of my best buys ever.
