Media Composer 6: Professional Effects and Compositing (Avid Learning Series: Profession Certification) 1st Edition

I have been waiting 20 years for an Avid Effects book of the high standard of this. You don't how helpful this book has been to ease the pressure of creating effects. This has never been done this successfully before in my 20 year Avid editing career. With the others in the series, it's the best Avid publication ever, and written in an easy to understand, and humorous manner. Even though it does not address the latest software, David East has done a superb job in presenting foundational and advanced information that the Avid Editor must know. I eagerly await the updated version for MC 7.

Love this book of avid. I near future I see the book Avid Media Composer 6.x Cookbook that it is Weak compared with this. If any people like learn more in the world of avid this is the book.sorry my bad english

MC is a serious piece of software, designed for and used by professionals. By the time I finish writing this review, the turf will probably have changed, but as of now (mid 2012) it is one of the few programs that can be considered one of the industry standards.The editors and authors of this book have decided to divide their book on MC 6 into several separate books which was probably a wise decision -- doesn't feel like a publisher's decision to squeeze more money out of a release. Several books on a program this large is more practical. Easier on the hands.What we have here is an expert, nicely-sequenced, and clear walk-through of basic to intermediate functions for MC 6 relating to picture and sound editing. It is all about real-world applications, using some fun examples in the process. I found the section on multilayered video compositing really helpful.This is not the most scintillating prose you will ever encounter, but the author tries for a friendly and accessible tone -- for this he gets some props. If you are looking for something that is part reference and part "learn-to" you should probably pick this one up.

With the multitudes of materials, books, magazines out now, you always need to come back to something basic,and this is it!You will not regret buying this. It covers basic technology to those who are not tech-bound workers.It is fully illustrated; with many times step-by step procedures on how to create music for film in real time, and pre-recorded.I liked the many perspectives the book gives on how "effects" are created. That is what the media basically is today; a series of "effects" for visual and sound combined. This is still a wide-open culture and we have not seen all there is in this genre.I wish I had more time to work in this area. I'm fairly happy being able to simply write music for different genres and venues.This is more than a" how-to" book, but gives good overviews with some detail.
