Excellent Combo!
I purchased this combo in the 8 weight to fish locally for largemouth bass. Compared to the 5 weight combo I bought at a local box store, I’m very impressed! The Case:A royal blue canvas-like material surrounds The hard case. It looks handsome and feels very sturdy. I have no concerns about rod protection. The interior is sectioned off into four sleeves for each piece of the rod. The sleeves may not make a huge difference, but it seems like a thoughtful and higher end detail. The pieces don’t rattle around inside much when stored. The rod:The rod is great! A nice blue finish, and the pieces fit into each ferrule securely. There are small yellow dots at each point where the pieces connect which aid in putting the rod together without having to eyeball the line eyes with each other and the reel. The rod has a medium-fast action, so it feels slightly less flexible than my other rod which is a medium action. This slight increase in stiffness feels better to me; it feels more reactive to my arm motion than my other rod. My 8 weight has a slightly extended butt section covered in cork to help play large fish, too.The reel:Yep, the reel is essentially plastic. It feels heavy enough for plastic where I don’t feel worried about it breaking, but if it dropped too hard on some rocks, who knows? It might get damaged. If properly handled I don’t think there will be any issues. The drag is smooth, and it seats into the rod securely.I’m tempted to buy a 5 weight Clearwater combo from Redington to use instead of my other rod, I like it that much!

For the price you can't beat these.
Great fly rod combo for the price. These are great rods and an okay reel. I do recommend that if you are getting these for a trip or more than a day trip that you go to the far bank website and purchase and extra tip end as insurance for your trip. I've used the 8wt for silver salmon and they hold up well. I also have a 5 wt for trout and it has been a solid setup. I'm a pretty novice fly fisherman but in my experience they work great and catch fish.

Solid for the money
Likes:- comes ready to go- casts ok, I’m new to fly fishing so there is a learning curve for me also- has held up to the first few salmon, I’m using it for river run salmon. Kinda. . .Dislikes:- the line tangles itself horribly, every time I strip out some extra line it curls up and tangles on itself- the line does not have a loop end, so replacing the leader is pain. I have simply skipped changing out the leader and will be replacing the line with something better- the line going through the guides makes audible screeching noise.- the reel is not powerful enough for big fish. I’ve had grab the line by hand to land the salmon. Was hoping the 8wt would come with something strong enough. But then again this was only $99 for the whole kit.Overall it has been a good kit to learn fly fishing with. But wish the line and reel were better, I’ll be upgrading line for sure and either replacing the reel or getting a whole new kit for salmon.

🔥LOVE THIS ROD❤️
The media could not be loaded. Great Rod for beginners like myself getting into fly fishing. Smooth reel system, love the 4 piece for Portability and very Durable. Performance with this rod and reel are incredible. Caught some shad, strippers and a few other smaller species with it while on a trip to Nova Scotia. Feel free to take a look on my socials under YOK OUTDOORS for videos of my using this rod 👍

Great fly rod for kids to learn on
This is a great fly rod, the fly line isn't the absolute best, but for a beginner rod it works well. Also the more use it gets the looser the line gets. I got it for my 13 yr old to learn on, and it is durable and sturdy for a kid to swing around, and at a decent price.I even use it sometimes myself, since it is lightweight and easy to assemble and take apart to store. Overall definitely a good purchase.

Redington? Redinglite is what it is!
Even if you have a brand you like, you’ll be happy about this rod and case. The case alone is exciting considering how packable it is, how you can see into the compartment through the solid feeling and not cheap plastic. For a rod on a budget the case alone is worth the cost! Then you pull the rod out, put it together and feel it’s balance.. everything there but the fly. They matched all the pieces together very well. If you’re a starter this is perfect - learning with good equipment makes a difference, learning on super expensive super elite equipment makes you nervous- this is “oh no I didn’t realize how long these are and jammed the tip into the cement hope it’s not broke but if it is I’m not out a ton of money economic. If you’re an expert this is perfect because it’s handy to always have a spare GOOD fly rod set up to lend if you get a partner by accident or if something happens and you’re finding yourself without your best rod (maybe a wolf steals it straight from camp one night??) The line is good quality also. I felt that feeling of “where’s some water” while holding it. It casts well and feeds out smooth.

Excellent rod
I love fly-fishing. It's something my late Father and I did regularly. I remember putting my waiters on and walking my but into the river. The flick of the wrist is so important. Redington in hand.Great beginner rod, easy to set up, nice carrying case and fairly small to tote around.I got this rod for my Husband. We now continue the tradition with our 3 boys. Thank you for the memories.Would recommend.

High quality, very nice rod for the reel/rod combo. Redington is solid!
I got this for my daughter who is 10. With the 7'6" length 4 weight, it is much easier for her to manipulate and control. The rod and wheel are balanced. Might be a tad expensive for a beginner or child's rod, but my son and I flyfish a lot. So we knew it would be used either way.....She likes it and I knew it would be a good starter rod for her, where she can grow into it, learn fly fishing, and eventually move up to a 5-6 weight 9 foot rod. Also - this is a good rod in thick brush where the streams are small, and you dont need to cast that far.The quality overall is solid, and as you know Redington produces good products as well as having good customer service and warranties.
