Comfortable and well made
This is a very nice work jacket for a very good price. The cut is roomy without being over big, the insulation is quite warm, and the cuffs are very nice. Pockets are decent, and I have room for a good vest under the coat. This is a better coat than any Carhartt I've owned and at forty dollars less!

Very suprised and worth it!
Was very unsure about this coat! Glad I was wrong this coat was bought as a christmas present at first the seller did not comfirm shippment or anything leading me to try to cancle my order. Could not cancel so hoped for the best. The coat did arrive in time actually a day early. The fit was perfect for my Husband who is a 3xlt we got a 3xl for him and it was great. My husband said it is a very warm comfy coat so this is a A+ in my book. My husband hates coats but had to have on and he even liked this coat

Quality
Very pleased with the hooded jacket, sturdily built and very roomy in the shoulders when reaching and just as good, the sleeves have plenty of length for me when sleeve length is usually an issue. I did order a L Tall. Customer service was helpful when i had a problem with the USPS delivery delays but not the fault of Berne. Wish i knew of their product before wasting money on other jackets. I expect to get many years out of it as it feels very durable, warm and appropriate for most any activity from work to play when you need to be protected from the weather.

Great quality for the price point.
Bought mens heritage duck hooded jacket. I'm 5'9" 250lbs 52 chest 40 waste. I bought size 2X. Fits great with room for a fleece under it if I want. I bought the green cause I didn't want to be same color as a deer, bear, or any animal during hunting season. It's lining in body, arms and hood is plenty thick for temps down to about 20-25 F. The hood is big so you can wear over ball cap. Outside pockets are good size for gloves or gloved hands, tape measures, they are not lined pockets. Three inner pockets are for keys and cell phones that could easily fall out of outer pockets. One inner pocket zips, two close with velcro. Seems to be quality made with medium/heavy duck cloth. Cost was 1/3 less then Car×××× brand, but that brand only offers browns, black, camo, orange. True test will be how it holds up to a wash. My major use is for cutting firewood, taking dog for runs thru the woods. Arms and back give good range of motion for swinging ax, or sledge splitting logs. Yet still looks good enough (in green) to visit family during holidays. If I were a farmer I probably would have went with Carxxxx brand because their duck cloth is about 25% heavier but price is 35-40% more.

Nice coat
I really like this work coat. I initially picked up a Carhartt Bartlett 4XLT, which I liked everything about except the front length (too short) and the zipper (too small). I sent it back and ordered this (Berne Heritage Duck) in a 5XLT and 6XLT. I'm 6'4" and 350lbs and the 5XLT fit perfectly. It's not too big, but I can still layer underneath. When getting into my truck, it doesn't feel bulky and I'm not annoyed by the hood. The length is about mid crotch, or a few inches below my waist. The elastic at the waist is not tight, which for me is a good thing, I don't like that restriction. To be a bit more clear about my size, think of an NFL linebacker. I don't carry all of my weight in my midsection, so consider that when deciding on a size. The 6XLT was pretty wide on me. Everything else fit like the 5XLT, but just with the added width. With Amazon free returns, ordering a couple different sizes and sending back the ones that don't work is pretty easy. To expand a bit on the differences between the Carhartt and Berne, the Carhartt is a nicer coat overall, but it's also twice the price, so perhaps it's not fair to compare apples to oranges, but let's do it anyway and see who comes out on top. I'll try to break down some of the features below and compare the two. Material: Both are made of similar canvas-like material, but the Carhartt material looks a little nicer and is a bit softer. Perhaps the Berne material will soften over time. I don't really care about this, but someone might find this information useful. Berne has more of a working man look and feel if that makes sense. Carhartt seems to have moved toward fashion, but I can't say if that has anything to do with the difference in material. Warmth: The Carhartt is a heavier coat and seemed a little warmer because of that, but I didn't compare them in the same environments. I was warm with both of them on different cold days. I was out in my Berne the other night in 20 degree weather with 30mph wind and it kept me perfectly warm. I'm sure the Carhartt would have done great in that scenario as well. I don't feel comfortable picking a winner here. Fit: Berne wins for someone of my size because of the length in front. It just feels good. See the above description for more details. Pockets: Berne pockets are more in the front, which I'm guessing is a bit more useful for holding and retrieving things like tape measures, etc. They are less comfortable than the Carhartt pockets as a result, so this is a personal preference depending on how you'll use the coat. I personally like the Carhartt pockets for myself since I won't be doing construction or anything like that. Both coats have inside pockets on both sides for wallet & phone. The Carhartt has chest pockets as well, but the Berne does not. Carhartt wins the pocket category, but again, this is a personal preference. Zipper: The Carhartt zipper is small and kind of hard to manage with bare hands, let alone gloved hands. The Berne coat has a bigger and much easier zipper. Berne wins this hands down. Hood: The Carhartt hood is huge, falling down over my eyes when looking ahead. The Berne is maybe a little too small for my liking, but at least I don't have to keep fiddling with it to see. My wife says it looks fine and that I'm being picky. I would like it to hang down to my eyebrows, but it's a couple inches away from that. Maybe I have a long neck or something. The Berne still wins this category, but I wish the hood was just slightly bigger. Arm length: Both were more than adequate, I have no complaints about either. I prefer the Carhartt only because of the design at the wrist where that cuff continues past the elastic. It's just nicer looking, but not a big deal. Ok, so it seems like I liked the Carhartt better based on the comparisons, but the Berne won the deal breaker categories. If the Carhartt fit like the Berne and had a bigger zipper, I'd probably be wearing the Carhartt, but the fit is kind of a big deal. I'm more than happy with the quality of the Berne and am more than happy to wear it, especially knowing it was half the price of the Carhartt.

A heavyweight insulated lining that keeps you warm and dry in chilly, windy conditions.
Even though porch pirates stole it, this work jacket offers rugged performance with a 10 oz. 100% cotton duck shell and heavyweight insulated lining that keeps you warm and dry in chilly, windy conditions. Water-repellent finish, storm cuffs, and ample pockets add practical functionality. Some find the fit less refined than premium brands, but overall, it’s durable, warm, and excellent value for the price. I wish the seller would replace it.
