As Good as Can be Expected
Anyone who has tried to fly a DJI Phantom that provides a view through a drone-mounted camera knows it's a problem to see the screen on a device like a phone or tablet because of reflections. Anything that can cut down on that reflection is a help. It's also a help for first person views if you can follow the action on a large size tablet. All of this seems to make a good argument for this item.At the same time, it's not realistic to think that a shade alone will solve the problem. You don't need a class in optics to know that any kind of light reflects. All you can do is mitigate the worst reflections unless you want to look at the screen through a hole in a box, which the FAA would take a dim view of with their requirement to keep visual contact with unmanned aerial vehicles. This device does about as well as could be hoped to increase screen visibility. I also found that it helps a little more if you add a non-reflective screen to your tablet. But even in the best of circumstances, there will be some reflections. Positioning yourself with respect to the sky can also help. The device comes with the necessary attachments to affix the screen and tablet to either the controller for the Phantom or a tripod. I found that attaching a large tablet to the controller so shifted the center of balance of the controller that it made it difficult to use. I found it much better, if less convenient for movement, to attach it to a tripod. Unfortunately, the tripod mount is 1/4 inch so if your tripod has a 3/8 screw you will need to get an adapter.I tried the device with several tablets and it held all of them comfortably, all though I had to remove the a thick cover from one. I did have difficulty not dislodging the tablet when I had it attached do the controller.Ultimately, I ended up using my mobile phone on the controller most times, as a matter of convenience. If you don't mind mounting your tablet on a tripod this is an ideal device. Physics make this a poorer choice for mounting directly on the controller.

Like the Fact it Can Mount on Tripod
I've only had this sun hood for a couple of weeks, but initial impression is very good. I bought it to mount my I-Pad onto a tripod, not on a DJI Phantom controller, and that's going to work nicely. Mount is just a little wobbly, but will suit my purposes nicely. Hood seems well made and plenty large to keep the sun off the I-Pad.

IT DOES THE JOB
If I compare with $49+ models, this economic Sun Shade does the intended job. I was waiting just for the shade but it comes with a tablet holder and the connector for the tripod. I have to reinforce the top slot with some tape because the tablet is 10.1 inches and the holder, with time, can rip the shade (is a hard cardboard material covered with a black cloth like material. Like I said, good for the price and do the trick.

Used with 9.7" iPad Pro & Inspire 1
First things first: I'm pretty sure this product has been updated or something. Looking at older reviews leads me to believe something must have changed. It works great and fits very well. You don't need to use the clamp provided if you're flying an Inspire. When pressing the clamp closed with the hood on it doesn't "feel" like you're getting a secure grip because the hood's material dampens the click feedback the clamp normally gives you but the grip is secure.I had little confidence in this product's provided clip which you can use to mount your hooded iPad on a tripod. It's actually better made than it looks. This product will do nicely for my needs.Product Cons:1. The velcro grips well, but not well enough. If the manufacturer wants an easy way to increase the sturdiness of the product I'd recommend widening the velcro adhesion strips a little.2. Depending on what tablet you're using, you may have to cut a section of the velcro to allow for a cable connection. This is not needed for iPad Air or the small Pro as the cable can be snaked through the velcro or clamp opening at the top of the shade.

Don't buy, this is a piece of junk
This is a very poorly made sun hood. I've traid to use it on everything from an Ipad Air 2 to a full size Galaxy tablet and it will not honly any of them study. Be smart and buy somewhere else.

Hood material is too thick, clamp cannot grip tablet
I recently purchased a Asus Transformer TF101 10" tablet to use with FC40, hoping that the FPV would be much improved. I always used a Summitlink hood in bright sunlight with my Galaxy S4, so I purchased the Summitlink 10 Inch iPad Sun Hood Shade Black w/ Clamp on Amazon. Without the hood in place, the clamp holds my tablet securely enough to be usable. But when I attempt to use the hood, its material is so thick that the clamp fingers cannot grip both it and my tablet, rendering it useless. If the clamp fingers had been made slightly longer, or perhaps for a paper-thin tablet, it would have worked fine. A hood is absolutely necessary, so I may try modifying the design to see if I can get it to work. A word of advice: If you are considering installing a front gimbal control knob, be aware that the placement most people use - the top left of the transmitter - will not be accessible with a 10" tablet and hood in place. I added a gimbal control (from eBay) to the front of my transmitter yesterday and, aware of the accessibility issue, was able to place it where the tablet/hood assembly would not restrict my access.

Five Stars
to heavy for control but works great on tripod.

More Than I Expected
I have to admit that I wasn't expecting much when I purchased this. I also have to admit that after I received it and fit it onto my new DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus .... I'm actually pretty impressed. Everything fits and seems to be made well. I connected this to my radio using another item I purchased on Amazon. I can't wait to try it out while flying this weekend.
