SKS Unisex Chromoplastics Set Mudguard, Black, 45mm 28 UK

As other reviews suggest, fitting takes a bit of time but the instructions are clear and almost all the bits you need are there. SKS provide spacers so you can fit the guards around disc brake calipers but not the longer machine screws you need to do that job, so be prepared to get some of those (dads will have the right sort of thing in their "spare screws" jar in their man caves...). A *slight* bend in the struts on the brake caliper side make the guard fit more neatly.I also had to jury-rig a spacer for fitting the front bracket on the rear guard because my front mech didn't let the guard go as close to the bolt hole as it should (see pic, it looks copper-coloured but it's just brown plastic.) It's an old kitchen plastic fitting with a hole drilled through it, so it won't cause rust or scratching.Cutting the struts to length with a hacksaw would be a tough job because they're stainless and they work-harden. Borrow a dremel from someone and it only takes a couple of minutes! :)Once on, these are solid. Neat, good coverage on the wheel and they don't rust. I've had a set of these on another bike for five years and they still look fine - no rust or anything.Well worth the money and a bit of patience when fitting them...

These black mudguards were good replacements for those fitted when the bike was new. After 14 years the old ones had most of the rivets broken and quite possibly the new ones will eventually suffer the same.Fitting was made easier by reusing most of the old mudguard stays, already cut to the correct length. But when cutting a new stay, it really saves a lot of effort if the hacksaw blade is sharp.

Packaging was messy and one of the front stays was missing. I contacted SKS as instructed for assistance but did not get a response, not even an acknowledgement. (The contact details for SKS were also not correct, link was to sks.germany when it should be sks-germany). Have returned item for refund now.

I took me about an houer, but need to cut metal ends later. Plus the box they send was 3 times bigger than needed :)

At first I was quite disappointed as they did not fit on my 700c wheels (mudguards were too far from the wheels). But then I omitted using the supplied black caps so that I could vary the length of the stays. It does mean that the excess is sticking out about 5 cm above the mudguards, but you can fine-tune the distance between the tyres and the mudguards. After that you could just cut the excess off with a hacksaw and put the caps on.Otherwise it's a really good product and I give 4 stars only because of the hassle and the price.

Terrible....they arrived in a torn cardboard carton with all the attachments missing and the mudguards scratched.

These seem well made and quite expensive, so I'm hoping they'll do the trick.Extremely frustrating to fit. Tiny limited instructions that don't make much sense, with poor diagrams.It's taken me ages to figure out what I'm doing and add some of the other reviewers mention, it doesn't include long enough frame bolts for every bike. Luckily, I had a spare one in the shed that was long enough.Also, you have to hacksaw the 8 guidewires to fit your bike. Makes sense I suppose as not every bike frame is exactly the sme length, but even as a sessoned DIY dad, I found this tricky and fiddly to do.
