Genuine review from first time use.
I used this kit to sweep a 5 inch twin wall flue for the first time which was installed about a year ago. After reading some reviews which had warned that the snap together buttons could fail during use, causing the flexible rods to become detached from one another when in the chimney or flue, I was apprehensive about buying this brand. However I noticed that the listing stated that the rods now had a new improved snap together attachment and considered that as all the budget priced kits were probably made in the east anyway, they could all have similar problems. With this in mind, I ordered the kit. I did actually look at professional kits too but the prices were astronomical in comparison.I prepared everything and working on my own, using a cordless drill on low speed I started feeding the brush up the flue, attaching each rod in turn. It was a bit nerve-racking and at times it did feel that the rods were progressing quite quickly making me doubt the brush was still attached. There were also a couple of times that the progression seemed to slow down, as if there was some resistance but I simply reversed the rotation for a short while which overcame the problem. Eventually, when I had used all the rods but one and to my relief, the orange coloured brush appeared in the bird nest guard on top of the chimney. I was surprised how many rods I had to use, considering it is a pretty small modern semi.Regarding the snap together rod joiners, they consist of a short tube adapter with a hole drilled in the side at one end of the rods and a male spigot with a spring loaded button on the other end of the rods. The idea is to press the button down and insert the spigot into the tube end of the next rod and allow the sprung button to pop into the hole of the short tube. This is slightly easier said than done and I actually cut my finger on one of the sharp edges of the hole. The spigot and tube are quite a close fit and the tension on the rod that's actually protruding from the chimney can make it difficult to get in the right position to fit the next rod but you soon get used to it with perseverance. When separating the rods on the way down, I had an assistant which made the job much quicker and easier. I would recommend that if possible. All in all the job went okay considering my apprehensions. I'll be more confident next time and definitely get a helper with me.

This sweeper works (you can see from the pictures). i used 11 poles (11 metres) for a large old house. it was fiddley to get the poles to separate (due to 11 rods) and my drill battery died on me (very old, will invest in new one) on the last pole to come down. . i guess buying this is a cost saver, as if i would have cost me £65 for a chimney sweeper to come out. so defo going to save money in the long run if used again. WOULD I USE IT AGAIN, well am not sure as it took me over a hour to get the poles up, down and sweep. also am not sure for how long these would last for or how many chimney sweeps i can get out of it, however it does work, never new so much soot can be up there. i know now why they say sweep chimney ever year.

It works
Booking a chimney sweep is a slow and expensive process.Meanwhile, the soot was building up and the smoke was filling our living room. This purchase was a gamble.Especially for somebody like me, who is not particularly handy. But the gamble paid off.We now have a clean, non-smokey, non-fuming open fire. It’s not a simple or quick process (watch a YouTube video first), probably because I’m not that handy, but it was an extremely effective process. This kit should now last me several years and I’d thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is frustrated by the waiting times and costs of the local chimney sweep.

Good flue cleaning kit - Saved some money
As a year had come around since my log burner was brought back into operation I was due a clean of the chimney. I looked at availability of chimney sweeps and struggled to find one with availability before this winter. I have a woodburner with a 8" stainless steel lined flue.I have used the once and it does a fantastic job. You attach the head to pole and then connect to a drill with the included chuck. It's easy enough to attach each pole to another. Once I had done a could I found a technique of rotating the two rods in opposite directions until then clicked together. The included hex key has a pointed end, which was really useful of punching the lugs used to connect each rod when disassembling.Lightweight and easy to manoeuvre even after connecting 8m of rods together. The included dust sheet is also used to help with the mess that will naturally be made.
