Good read for those who follow the bible
The book is an interesting read about what King James had to go through while getting the bible done

The version to buy
This version is very well done! The context around the life and times of James by Tyson is informative, the modern translations highly readable and having the original text as well makes it the whole package.

More informative than leather editions.
I had purchased a goat skin leather edition of this work from Ouroboros Press but it was limited in additional insight into the text from so long ago. This edition has the original text, author notes, and other papers from the era. A better deal at 1/8th the price.

Was title to this book misleading?
I read this book quickly as it was a gift for a friend, a prosecuting attorney from another county. He agreed with me that it was principally about witchcraft not demonology. He had wanted a Catholic book, but the only Catholic books on this subject, which Ihad noticed in Italy in the 1950's, were all in Latin; and neither of us could read that language. When I was a child, my motherand my aunt had attempted to teach me that language, but I constantly ran away into the woods when lessons began. At any rate, all the books on demonology which I found recently were in English. The volume by James I seemed more definitive than the others, judging only by the advertising, though the author was a Presbyterian/Church of Scotland/Church of England author, James I of England. At any rate, his mother, Mary,Queen of Scots, was a good Catholic, especially after she was imprisoned by her cousinElizabeth I. My friend, for whom the book was ordered, thought his former spouse was a witch; but after working in the same offices with her for over a year, I maintained that she was only demon possessed. Upon reflection, the title of this book may not be too misleading since some witches have familiar spirits which may be demons taking the form of snakes, cats, dogs, birds, bats, large spiders, lizards, etc. These animal forms, however, may have only been assumeby shape shifting space aliens.

Great Condition!
It came right on time and was in great condition. This is going to be very useful for a paper I have to write on Shakespeare and Witches. Interesting to know what the King thought back then.
