Very nice , very sharp & well made ! D2 is VERY TOUGH 59 should be easier to sharpen than 62 so awesome that its @ 59 !
Tip looks a very tad to top side , but I can deal with it , really nice , sharp as a razor ! The brass & screw may scratch in & out action of the sheath , or I'll just cover the inside with some leather over the screw , really nicely done ! After spending time , wiping down , stropping, & few minor minor things , it's really perfect , super straight & very well hand made !! D-2 is razor sharp , it came packaged very well , oiled & wrapped up very good ! I'd recommend to anyone looking for a dagger 4 collection ! Awesome price for quality made , daggerTip was perfectly straight ~ it's a Beautiful piece , VERY SHARP ~ if your not familiar with D2 , ww.bladeops.com/Articles.asp?ID=283 it's an awesome Tool Steel for toughest knife edge retention , I have many water stones , & tons of practice with all types of materials on the stones , & I've never had an issue sharpening D2 it's gonna take a bit more than 1095 , but you rarely need to sharpen it , depending how & the uses you commonly use it for ! Just wanted to update & clear up , Quality Knife , super fast delivery , I've had it in my cart over a year , & for a long time they were out of stock ! Saw it was in & love it , My buddy now wants one, so may order another 4 him or the one up with thicker handle ? D2 is used to gain a HRC of 241 on dies to punch 1095 , 70/s , 304, 440, sheets in machine shops , tool & die but it's Heat treatment process is different to get the 241 , actually I'm glad 59 is used instead of 60 or higher for this one ! D2 is NOT brittle , so many ppl say it's brittle , it's used as Die Materials ! How does it punch through steel , stainless , nickel copper , copper - nickel up to 3/16" thich , like butter ? I used to run a turret punch / laser CNC machine that held 33 dies , so I'm familiar with metallurgy & D2 & many different types of heat treatments , vacuum to cryogenic to Nitrogen .. Nice Knife ! Wish I knew where these were made ? I've seen Spain on a few GCS ! Says European materials ! Really a quality hand made for retail price ! Great deal !

Excellent!
Delivery: 1 day early!Sheath: Excellent and very usable. Made only minor changes to accommodate a higher carry until I make my own. Will definitely be keeping this one as backup though.Dagger: Mine comes in at 5 7/8" from base of hilt to the tip. Point of balance is right at/behind the top grip pin. Grip is large and offers excellent retention due to design and material (for reference I wear a Men's size medium glove). Sharpness was the best I've gotten here yet. Deep bevels will accommodate easy reaharpening. Hollow grind and thick spine lend themselves to a more stab oriented blade, but as stated the edges are more than adequate for any task. All in all, I'm very impressed, I got this to be a low profile edc and I got exactly what I wanted.

This is one of the best knives I have owned. The quality is next to none. I own two GSC knives and will be definitely buying another especially at the price points they offer. If you got this knife from anyone else the cost would be triple. Give them a try I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Hand forged = imperfections are to be expected ; Still not quite as advertised
The GCS165 double edged dagger with micarta handle is a hand forged knife with some imperfections but that is to be expected with such a process. For one, the blade is not entirely symmetrical nor straight but its a little hard to tell from the naked eye. No bother. What is a slight disappointment is the blade length, which exceeds the listing by 0.5”, ultimately prohibiting me from using it, as the legal limit for blade carry where I live is 5.5”. Was hoping for a blade I could carry when outdoors but this one is now a collector’s piece.I still like it.Even if I cannot use it.If you do use it, care for it properly… That means wiping it clean after every use, periodically treating with a couple drops of mineral oil (especially prior to longterm storage). I have also heard it’s best to store your blades OUTSIDE of their respective leather sheaths as the oils from the leather will eventually taint the steel.Another fair warning: It’s probably not a great idea to thrust this guy into things much anyway… It is made of D2 tool steel, which has a super high hardness pushing 60 HRC but should not be abused like other high carbon steels lest you say goodbye to that piercing tip. Given the double-edged design, this is a thrusting blade first and foremost, but please be careful what you pierce and don’t be cavalier with it. Miss your target? Now your fancy stabby stab no longer stabs… Better refashion that blade tip lest you have some useless steel before you…My major complaint is that this is the second blade from GCS that I have received that differs from the listing. My first blade had a handle 0.25” shorter than what was advertised; this GCS165 is a full 0.5” longer in the blade, making it a total of 10.5” rather than 10” long.A lesser complaint I have with this piece is that the contoured leather sheath may or may not have been treated properly, as the leather is soft and pliable. Much like the misleading listing information, this is my second blade from GCS with a soft leather sheath. My other GCS blades have well-treated sheaths that a firm and starchy so I guess its a crap shoot.Besides the poor leather treatment, the sheath is quality and can be worn both vertically (right-handed) or horizontally (ambidextrous due to double edged blade). A generous belt loop of 3.5” will accommodate literally any belt you can find, probably even a cumber bun (but I wouldn’t carry this to a wedding).Pros:-Sharp right out of the box-D2 steel holds a fine edge-Comfortable blue linen micarta scales are sexy and feel delicious in my hand-Lightweight for a 6” blade (4mm thick), stock is cut thin enough but not too thin-Double-edged hollow grind w/ minimal spine and no fuller makes this a formidable piercer/thrusterCons:-Lacking a powder coating, blade requires more care and upkeep (i.e. oiling) than stainless steel-Tip may snap off more easily bc of high hardness of D2 steel-Blade off kilter and asymmetrical (due to hand forging process)-Blade length exceeds listing description by 0.5”-Poor treatment on leather sheath may not properly protect bladeThe imperfections noted above (leather treatment notwithstanding) are to be expected when hand forging D2 tool steel. However, GCS should qualify their claims (e.g. blade length) with an approximate range (perhaps 0.5” either way) rather than an exact metric. Otherwise customers may be disappointed in getting something other than what was advertised. Not everyone takes these things as well as I do. So maybe pick a GCS blade with free returns in case you are unhappy with what you receive.More importantly, if you desire absolute perfection and symmetry in your knife, then do NOT shop for hand forged blades… Automation ensures product consistency, yes, but handcrafted goods are far less alienating.I prefer imperfection. It’s more natural.Until next time…Thanks again GCS Knives ! ^_^

Good knife. Not perfect for me.
Nice knife but I’d point out the handle is a little small for my hand and it’s squarish. I’d prefer the pummel and handle be more rounded.
