GREAT Fan for my Attic
I'm thrilled with my QuietCool Smart Attic Gable Fan! As someone who's always looking for ways to improve my home's comfort and energy efficiency, this little gadget has quickly become a favorite.Installation & Setup Breeze:One of the things I loved most about this fan was how easy it was to install. No need for an electrician or special tools – I had it up and running in under an hour. The clear instructions and helpful online resources made the process smooth and stress-free.Smart App Takes Control:The smart app is another major selling point. Setting it up on my phone took just a few minutes, and now I have complete control over the fan right from my fingertips. I can turn it on and off, adjust the speed, and even set schedules based on temperature and humidity levels.Real-Time Monitoring:Speaking of temperature and humidity, the app also displays real-time readings from built-in sensors. This is a fantastic feature that lets me keep an eye on my attic's climate and ensure the fan is operating efficiently.Performance that Impresses:But the true test of any attic fan is its performance, and the AFG SMT PRO-3.0 doesn't disappoint. It delivers powerful airflow that quickly cools down my attic on even the hottest days. My energy bills have already started to reflect the improved ventilation, and I'm confident I'll see even more savings over time.Overall, I highly recommend the QuietCool Smart Attic Gable Fan to anyone looking for an easy-to-install, effective, and energy-saving way to cool their attic. It's a worthwhile investment that will keep your home comfortable and your wallet happy.Pros:Easy installationSmart app control with temperature and humidity monitoringPowerful airflowEnergy-efficient operationDurable constructionCons:Initial cost may be higher than some basic attic fansI would definitely give this fan a 5 out of 5 star rating.

Excellent, but LOUD
The media could not be loaded. Essentially, I am giving this product 5 stars. If you only have a single vent and you need to push out as much air as possible, this PRO-3.0 fan is likely the best on the market. However, it is REALLY LOUD!! Anyone who has experience with air handlers or air systems will know that anytime you try to push almost 3000 cubic feet per minute of air volume through a 17" hole, you are going to get noise. This noise is a result of fan motor speed, air velocity as it is pushed through a small space, turbelence from the fan blades and any other obstruction, etc.In my scenario, the fan motor and air noise created a loud mid-range humming/buzzing that just cut right through the ceiling. My bedroom and office are directly under the attic where the fan is mounted and the noise was so intrusive that I could not live with it. This is not the fault of the product because we are essentially fighting physics here. The PRO-3.0 product pushes an incredible amount of air. Outside, the wind noise is not extremely loud but it is loud enough to disturb neighbors in the evening/night. It sounds like the inside of a warehouse factory with machinery running. The way to reduce the noise output in this scenario is to increase the size of the hole for air transfer and also reduce the speed of the fan motor. This will reduce the air velocity since we are using a bigger hole, but it will not necessary reduce the amount of air being pushed out (CFM). This is exactly what I did here. Since I had 2 gable vents for output, I returned the RED FAN and purchased two BLUE FANS which ran at a much slower speed and allowed a larger hole (essentially 2 x 17" which essentially equates to a 24" hole). The noise level was night and day. The noise is SIGNIFICANTLY QUIETER and the system still pushes as much or more air -- and two BLUE FANS actually use less power than a single RED FAN.I did replace the 5uf motor run capacitor in these fans with a Cornell Dublier MPF 5uf oil filled motor run capacitor (part number 32FD3705A-F at $24). This actually resulted in the motor running smoother and just a bit quieter with less capacitor resonance humming. At night in my bed with the two fans running full speed, I can hear a very quiet low frequency tone from the motor noise and air noise. It is much like a comfortable white noise and barely noticeable after I got used to it being there. So essentially, the numbers come down to the following:RED FAN (PRO-3.0) - 2940 CFM (about 1700 CFM real world), 264 watts, 1700 RPM motor speed, 74 decibels at 3 feet2 X BLUE FANS (PRO-2.0) = 3890 CFM (about 2000 CFM real world), 240 watts, 1000 RPM motor speed, 61 decibels at 3 feetGREEN FAN (ES-3.0) - I did take a brief look at this fan. Yes, the brushless DC motor is much more efficient and versital since it can drive at 3 speeds instead of 2. However, the power supply uses electrolytic capacitors to drive the motor. I would be concerned about long term reliability on a device that operates 15 hours a day for many years in a high heat and high stress environment. Electrolytic capacitors really do not do well in this environment and will dry up and fail sooner than you think. I think the conventional motors on the PRO versions which uses film-based run capacitors will be much more reliable and durable.
