Excellent
This is book is useful for 1st graders. Children are getting this book in school but same time parents also know the pattern what children are learning in school. Children can have one more practice at home.-Mandar

Good but expensive and teacher intensive
We like MIF. It uses manipulatives to explain things in a concrete way. Then the kids see a picture of the manipulative and then work on paper. Only later are things put in an abstract form (just numbers). This is the Singapore method. First concrete, then pictorial, then abstract. However, the program is teacher intensive. As you would expect, the teacher/parent must be involved when kids are young and not reading. But as they get older it is nice for them to be able to read a lesson and work independently. I have used MIF up to 5th and have not found this possible. This is hard when teaching multiple kids at different grade levels.Saxon math after third grad is good for independent work as is Teaching Textbooks. However, TTextbooks is at least a year behind grade level.Always look up the placement tests for the program you choose so you can correctly place your child in their grade level. The MIF program is also very expensive. I wish I had started with Singapore Math instead. It is much less expensive with the same concepts.
