Perfect fit, Ride awesome.
These shocks fit a 2004 Avalanche 1500 with the Z71 package. The shocks installed with no issues. The front of the vehicle will have to be lifted by the frame and supported on jack stands so that the wheels hang down in order to slip in the new shocks, as they are extremely hard to compress by hand. The rear could be compressed by hand and installed easily. The wheels did not need to be taken off, nor any other components, except of course the old shock absorbers. The ride quality improved substantially with the new shock absorbers; the truck glides through dips and right over speed bumps at speed without jarring the passengers. Combined with new sway bar bushings (I highly recommend polyurethane), all body sway has been eliminated as well.

Excellent upgrade
I just installed a set of these shocks, along with the Bilstein 199020 Springs and Moog insulator bushings, on my '04 Suburban with 76,000 miles. The ride is almost shockingly improved. It feels and handles like a different and much newer vehicle (no doubt the degree of improvement was in part a result of my not having realized how bad the old shocks were). This upgrade was well worth the money given the outstanding results.

The best shocks money can buy
Replaced the stock shocks with a set of Bilstiens 4600 on a 03 Yukon 5.3L. The ride is vary nice and much improved no body roll in corners at all. I have used the Bilsteins shocks on other trucks and SUV used for towing they last for ever and performance is second to none. You are wasting your money buying any other brand of shocks. Spend the little extra money they will more than likely out last your car. Still not Shure look them up on Google they are the best shocks money can buy.

Not as heavy duty as mentioned
They work fine like the regular ones. I was hoping for extra heavy duty, like used to pull trailer and have that extra support, but it doesn't.

BILSTEIN Shocks - Now my Suburban Don't Rock!!!!
These were installed on a 2004 Suburban with 225K Miles. I have passengers in the 2nd and 3rd row tell me they were getting seasick feelings because of the floating and rocking of the vehicle. After installation, the Suburban feels solid and rides very nicely. Feel like we have better control of the vehicle too.

2003 Avalanche 1500 Z71
These are the factory replacement shocks for stock height. If you don't have a set of pinch bars, installation will be a bit more interesting than you want it to be. The previous owners used AutoZone El Cheapos and this thing was just uncontrollable whenever you hit a bump. Not anymore. Buy with confidence and enjoy the ride again!!
