Quality, Performance, and Sound: K&N Exceeds Expectations
K&N Cold Air Intake System: A Perfect Blend of Quality, Performance, and SoundFrom the moment I opened the box, the quality of the K&N Cold Air Intake System was apparent. The components are well-made, with a durable finish that speaks to the longevity of the product. Installation was a breeze; the fit was perfect, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I didn't have to make any modifications – it simply bolted right in.But the real magic happened when I started the engine. The improved performance was immediately noticeable. The throttle response is sharper, and the engine pulls stronger throughout the rev range. It's not just about power, though; the sound is fantastic. It adds a pleasing, aggressive tone under acceleration without being obnoxious during normal driving. If you're looking for a high-quality, easy-to-install intake system that delivers on both performance and sound, the K&N Cold Air Intake System is a winner.

Incredible upgrade
I’ll start by admitting I’m a mechanical moron. I couldn’t tell you how to change oil much less make mods to anything. But I watched a couple DIY videos and gave it a shot. It was very very simple. I really took my time and it was still just over an hour. I had heard in a couple reviews that the coupling didn’t fit right so one thing I’d suggest is to pull all parts out of the box and make sure it’s all there before you take out your stock system. All my parts were there and had zero issues with fittings. Between the instructions and YouTube videos it couldn’t have been easier. As far as the performance goes…. Huge and noticeable difference. Definately a HP increase. I don’t know how much but no doubt it’s there. They claim 10HP increase and I’d guarantee it’s every bit of that. And it gives your Tacoma a deeper, throatier sound for sure. Lower idle too which is easier on your engine. After I installed the KN Intake I got a little bold and put on an AFE MACH Force-XP 3-Inch Single Exhaust System myself (Also super simple) and it increased HP even more and sounds like a 5.0 mustang (if you like that kind of thing). Seasoned mechanic or first timer it’s the best few hundred bucks you could spend.

Better throttle response
This is the third k&n intake ive installed and this one was a bit more interesting than the rest....as its the only one i broke during installation. Here are my pros and cons of it.Pros:1. Better throttle response. Maybe more power but you're not gonna be blown away by any difference lol.2. Seems to be smoother taking off and accelerating3. Sounds amazing. Its subtle under normal driving but plant your foot and it gets loud. I feel its only truly loud over 4k rpm. If you have any experience with intakes on cars, you would most likely agree this one is mild.4. Ill update after some miles on this one but after just the initial test drive, im pretty sure gas mileage will be better.5. K&n provided awesome technical help and even replaced parts that were broken during installation free of charge (see the cons for details)6. Everything is fully backed by them and they even gurantee if a factory warranty claim is denied as a result of this intake, they will cover it.Cons:1. The instructions are detailed and feature pictures from an actual toyota tacoma like mine. (Much like every other k&n intake ive installed) however they seem to lack details on some parts and could have been much clearer on some aspects of installation. It seems they put alot of effort into the directions and they are good but some things needed to be further detailed.2. While tightening the breather tube fitment down it snapped off (see the picture)....why was this not already made on the tube anyway? It seems pointless to have to screw that in. Regardless be extremely careful when putting it together. ***(It should be noted that k&n sent me a replacement fitment and intake tube completely free of charge after i called them)***3. Lots of bolts and washers that look extremely similar and the instructions do a horrible job of differentiating what goes where. Its easy to figure out but i do feel they could have streamlined the screws and such that they used.In closing, id say that i reccomend this for your tacoma if you want better throttle response, a deep growling engine sound and overall better drivability. I would strongly advise reading the directions for each step and be extremely careful during install. Do not over tighten anything!

Love it - 2017 Tacoma
Installed on our 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-Road, 3.5L. Love the difference in sound. You get a little whistle at higher RPMs when the intake starts sucking in air harder. Truck is much louder at higher RPMs as well. Per K&N you see an increase in HP (+18) and Torque (+13). My butt dyno tells me this is true but others will disagree on whether a CAI does anything at all with all the electronics anymore. Only thing I dislike is that the top, as seen in the picture, is open. It is not a totally enclosed box around the filter but instead has weather stripping along the top that is supposed to seal against the hood when it is shut. I don't much care for that idea since I would eventually like to get a Ram Air hood and drop outside air over the filter box. Time will tell how fast the filter gets dirty either way.....Anyway, easy install. Looks good. Works well. Something that I had to look up that turns out to be normal per K&N representatives is that when there is load at idle (such as turning steering wheel at a stop) you may hear a little 'burp'. Again, told it is normal and doesn't bother me any.

Came missing parts, sent me wrong parts twice
I’ve had this item for a month now put together missing one part, contacted k&n told them ny situation they shipped out a new part for me few days later, wrong part, a part that doesn’t even belong to this cold air Intake called back spoke to somebody else they put the order in told me it’s a new part now mailed it got it today it’s the right size but too long doesn’t fit….. I’m done with this item I want me money back. I didn’t pay $360 for something to sit on my counter for a month because the manufacturer can’t get it together. They’ve had 3 tries now.
