WILEY WALLABYKenny's Gourmet Licorice, Black, 24 Ounce

Well, I certainly learned my lesson!! I was a bit tight on funds and the reviews were so good that I thought I'd stray from the FINNSKA I'd spent decades to find and then decades enjoying. BIG mistake, sorry guys.- No significant flavor AT ALL (I know the difference between the overpowering artificial flavor versus the more subtle and deep richness of real black licorace; that was not the problem...to be generous, there was but a WISP of flavor.)- Disgraceful texture - a plastic-like dry sort of rubberyness that actually shocked me.- Density was NOT bad, but that's where ANY positive began and ended for me...Needless to say I IMMEDIATELY bit the bullet (and this time, I don't mean this licorace) and ordered my FINNSKA 8.8 LB BAG which arrived today, instantly dipped in and....aaaaah, black licorace HEAVEN!(Not pandering, honest, but THANK HEAVENS FOR AMAZON!! LOL)

It's corn syrup based..It's got a huge thwack of licorice flavor.. Almost medicinal in strength, which is what I think it putting some off.I really love licorice, and get a craving for it from time to time so I thought I'd give amazon's highest rating a try.This isn't quite what I wanted.. I was after a more old fashioned, slightly less gummy style I remember from England as a kid.These are a little more synthetic, in both flavor and texture, but.. I have to say, by the end of the bag I was really digging it.Worth a try, I reckon.

Packaged delivered. Opened immediately in excitement of having some delicious licorice. One piece eaten, disappointment, one more piece just to confirm the flavor and texture was off. The bag went straight into the trash with only 2 pieces eaten approximately 4 minutes after being delivered. Gross gross gross. Cheap artificial flavor, and gelatinous texture. Ewe

Licorice shouldn't flake and disintegration as it is chewed. Flavor isn't just strong licorice, it's harsh and ends in a high in acidity flavor. While that flavor and texture may appeal to some down-under, it is not what I expected. Trade Joe's product is much superior.

I was so looking forward to the licorice. Haven't bought any for a long time and the reviews were so good about this product. Well, I ate one piece and was shocked. It was almost brittle and the flavor was "off". This is, of course, my take on it but I expected some chew to it. But it just broke apart in my mouth. No chew at all. So now I have an enormous amount of licorice that I will not be eating. I hate to throw "food" away, but can't think of what else to do with it. No refunds allowed I read. So disappointed. Maybe it was old???
