RGB version is well worth it!
This review is for the RGB version, which I use as a gaming keypad. This seems like the updated version compared to what others have experienced. The RGA version uses USB-C instead of the old mini/micro-USB. The software is incredibly easy to use. Way easier than I even expected. Brightness and colors are beautiful, and easy to manage through the software. There is no writing back and forth to the device to make changes. Any change you make in the software is instant. I have replaced the key caps with low-profile caps, and I needed additional caps that the device didn't provide, so that worked out also. Love this device, and worth the money.!

Drivers are ancient, programmability is broken, and it broke within 3 days of using it.
I bought this in February 2024 but did not get around to trying it out until August 2024. The product is a joke.It sort of worked for 2 days. The manual it comes with links to the "old version" of the layer programming software, and the new version -- which I had to find myself -- didn't work either. My computer could detect the device but none of the included software worked to program it.I ended up having to write my own AutoHotKey scripts to get it to work as intended. Then, 72 hours after I first plugged it in, it no longer responds to any key input and is not recognized by my device. The internal LEDs do not acknowledge even when I press the reset or program buttons on the actual keyboard itself.I know what you're thinking: maybe it's the cable. But see -- that's the problem. Because this ancient device uses a "mini USB" connector, I cannot even find an alternate cable to try out and see if it works.I really wish I had just tried it out as soon as it arrived so I could have returned it for being literally the second worst Amazon purchase I have made in 13 years of having an account.

The keys feel great to me with just the right amount of spring
I'm not a gamer but I spend anywhere from 8 to 16 hours a day at my computer. I was looking for a macro keyboard that I could use to reduce mouse clicks and repetitive actions. So far, I'm very impressed. The keys feel great to me with just the right amount of spring. The first thing I noticed, even before I took it out of the box, was how solid it felt. It's a lot heavier than I expected. It's built solid.Plugged it in, my PC (WIN7) recognized it immediately. I fired up the software and set it up how I wanted it. That was fairly painless. When I bought the keyboard, I was looking to get 48 macro buttons. It has 8. The remaining 40 keys can be programmed for other things, just not complex macros.I normally use a QWERTY keyboard that has 18 macro buttons. I knew going it that even though all keys were re-map-able, not all keys could be macros at the same time, having the ability to send a complex series of keystrokes. I solved that little problem by adding macro software "AutoHotKey". AutoHotKey (Free - not related to Koolertron) is a rather sophisticated scripting language that's still fairly easy to use. What I did was then map all the keypad buttons to use combo keys. i.e. ALT+CTL-A, WinKey+C, etc. Then I wrote the AutoHotKey scripts to respond to the key strokes. Bingo! I had exactly what I wanted. The beauty is, if I utilize all 4 configurations, I'll go from 48 complex macro keys to 192! How awesome is that?!! Now I just have to think of all the creative ways to use it.Note: Be aware that if you want to use AutoHotKey with this like I do, you'll want to be comfortable with Windows, writing small scripts and files. I had a quick learning curve to go through to get exactly what I wanted. Getting the scripts right for what I wanted took about 8 hours of playing around. That has nothing to do with the keypad but if you're looking for 48 macro keys, you'll need to be aware. There are only two down sides that I can think of at the moment.1) The software was easy to get to and download but it came in a rar format, not ZIP. It took me a few minutes before I found the right software to be able to open it. Most "normal" people I deal with (Non-IT) would have really struggled with that.2) Since all the keys are blank, I expected that there would be some sticky labels available for purchase that I could print hints as to what I have the key programmed to do. I couldn't find any in the usual place (Amazon). I'd be happy if I could purchase keys with other colors.Overall, I love the thing. It's already making my life easier.
