The FAP-231G is non-funtional if attached to a Fortigate
I have owned this AP since November. In that time, I have not stopped troubleshooting it vs the FAP-231F that I previously used. While I should not blame this hardware, FortiOS is the problem. It consistently dumps and randomly dumps 2.4GHz clients and will not re-establish their connection. While the 6GHz band is functional, the range is POOR, even in a LARGE OPEN ROOM with a 14' ceiling, on which it mounts. The WIDS profile causes these issues, which means the folks at Fortinet like to sling half-baked product these days - I mean look at the FortiManager CVEs. Also related to this issue are the daemons for WAD and IPS, which the developers have let to rot without a garbage collector for over 4 years now, and dozens of FortiOS updatesBuy an Eero, you'll thank yourself. I got the 6E Pro, which doesn't even offer 2.5Gbps LAN and everything connected right up. I got it at Best Buy since they are faster to deliver than Amazon.1 thing I forgot to mention - it you have an LG OLED like half the United States - the FortiGate (or maybe the FortiAP) will not allow you to connect to accept user agreements so you can use the SmartTV. I applied it to it OWN interface with no policy items not even cert inspection, and it fails. I knew they were blocking this traffic (improperly) back in Sept 2024 when I got the TV.Oh and don't think the reviewer misconfigured the device - this also happens after full factory reset (on the FortiGate, FortiAP and FortiSwitch) with ONLY the default allow policy. This gear is garbage. Take it from someone who actually READS the IETF RFCs.
