Best value for the money!
I’m a general contractor & build & pour concrete pads & use a laser everyday. For the money, you can’t beat the Topcon RL-H5A in this price range. The next best laser in this price range is the Topcon RL-H5B. The B doesn’t do slopes, the A does & for the small price difference in the two, the A is a better value. I’ve used Topcon brand lasers for years & I’ve used other brands. The only two brands I would recommend are the Topcon & the Hilti. If you pour concrete, do grade work, or work on residential builds daily, the Topcon RL-H5A works great on all of it. It is also built tough & sturdy & comes in a hard case that protects your laser, receiver, & holds your batteries as well. I done my research prior to buying the RL-H5A despite knowing what I already know about various brands & overall couldn’t find a better fit for me for the price. The only thing that would make this purchase even better is if you got 2 receivers with it. Lol! Still, you can purchase another one separately & I would recommend doing so. The shipping was also fast & packaged well from ToolDeals on Amazon. They are a small business genuinely concerned with your satisfaction. Hope this helps if you’re on the fence about which laser to purchase.

Good value for price
If you have used quality construction lasers (Topcon and Spectra) this one will not disappoint, if you are aware of a few things you sacrifice for the price point. Range is good, and accuracy seems as good as the more expensive ones. Battery life on alkaline batteries is good. So what are the drawbacks? First, there are four "blind spots" in the rotation, where the corner "posts" block the rotating beam. Not a huge issue, but it is there and can be a pain when you're a long ways from the laser. Also, don't think you're getting a "sloping" laser for a cheap price. Yes, the slope feature can be made to work, but if you use it regularly, or if you need to set up again day after day, I'd consider stepping up to one with a digital slope control. All in all, this is a great value for someone who needs the basic features of a laser level and not much more.

Great laser. Not impressed with Topcon company
I owned this laser for 2 years with no issues and it was awesome. Weighed flawlessly Everytime and was an awesome product for the money. That was until it quit auto leveling. I contacted Topcon and brought it to my local dealer to be sent it. The Topcon tech contacted me letting me know that the repairs would surpass the cost of a new laser and that none of the repairs were covered under warranty due to the fact that he had deducted that the unit had been abused in some way. This is my personal laser and no one but myself uses it and I know for a fact it was never dropped or abused. Not sure if it was an issue during transit from dealer to repair hub or what caused the damage. I won't be buying another Topcon product after this experience.Beware of "5 year warranty, unless we don't want to warranty it at all"

Slope function is useless or maybe I’m too dumb
The slope function of this device is analog and does not have preset slope gradients to choose from. You must have a known preset distance determined to be level with the laser, then drop the receiver the exact inch/cm amount needed to correlate with the desired slope. Then you can begin setting slope for drainage/grade. I bought this to accomplish setting sloped grade by myself, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it with this unit. Super solid build quality and accuracy though. If you’re doing level foundations or have 2 guys, this thing is awesome.

Good laser with great warranty. Buy from an authorized seller with a contact #
Make sure you purchase from an authorized dealer with a good contact number. There are several out there one has a good video catalog on this and similar products.

Great level, slope feature is difficult
The laser works great for level. We use it all the time. But the slope feature is a bit elusive. I've read the directions, but it's just a little too complicated.

Decent unit so far.
Unit has a larger and brighter dot then my old CSTBerger unit.It levels fast and is easy to use.Not sure if it is normal, but the spindle rotation is noisy, like a scratchy/grinding noise. Much louder than the CSTBerger unit, but that could be just how they are, I guess.I like the integrated bubble level in the receiver bracket.
