Solid Dive Light
Overall: This dive-light should perform great as either a primary or a backup light. Construction and water-proofing is solid. Brightness is great. Checks all the boxes for a $100 dive-light.Brightness: This is 1000 real/accurate lumens. It's equivalent or brighter than other legitimate high-quality 1000 lumen lights I've bought. And brighter than some cheap "3000 lumen" lights, with fake lumen-ratings. For a single-cell 18650, you probably won't find any light that's actually above 1000 lumens. One of the photos you'll see a comparison to another 1000 lumen light, with Oratorch on the right-side.Construction: Feels like a solid light, decent weight to it, no flaws that I can see. Switch certainly feels like a magnetic switch, and should last.Water proofing: Has 3-layers of o-rings, and comes with spares. The 150m claim is probably accurate, though I haven't taken it that deep. It'll certainly survive a 130ft dive with ease.Beam: Has both a narrow beam and good spill. This is perfect for a medium-range beam. For something like photography, I'd probably choose a wider/smoother beam, but different flashlights for different purposes. Look at the photos to get an idea of the beam-spread.Batteries: Comes with 2x 3400MAH 18650 batteries, which is impressive if that's the actual MAH. I haven't timed how long the battery lasts, but it it lasts quite a while.Other: Also comes with a battery-charger, lanyard, hands-free mount, and carrying case. The hand-mount seems to work fairly well and is comfortable. If my description sounds like the kind of light you're looking for, I don't think you can go wrong with this like There are other lights that are brighter (and bigger/heavier), or better for photography, or cheaper, etc ... but that's why you get the right tool for the job. Orcatorch also has mini-lights, video-lights, and even an underwater laser I wouldn't mind trying sometime.

Replaced My Corded "Can Light" For Recreational Night and Cenote Diving
I went on my annual trip to Mexico this year where I do a combination of ocean, night and cenote diving. I thought I’d get a newer back up light to my older corded Watershot Strykr that I’ve used for years as I have noticed other divers using smaller handhelds that seemed pretty bright. After getting the Orcatorch D550 all I can say is WOW! At 1000 lumen it’s brighter than my corded light – so much so that I ended up using it as my primary light for the rest of the trip saving the hassle of attaching the battery and dealing with a light head and cord. Battery life was fantastic – two 45-60 minute cenote dives didn’t faze it at all – the battery indicator still showed it was ready for more. The beam has a great spot with a lot of light spill that helped illuminate more open caverns. It has a bottom mounted button that easily cycles through 100%, 50% and strobe modes. The 50% mode is necessary as at 100% the light is blindingly bright to look at your computer or gauges. The lower power mode is also good when visibility is down as it reduces backscatter. The light itself is very solidly made and is the right size to feel comfortable in your hand. It’s sized to fit into a pocket though I kept mine clipped to a D-ring when not in use. It comes with a soft Goodman glove that I found myself using when I had my cameras with me. I was also impressed to see that when the head was unscrewed to remove the 18650 battery for recharging it has 3 O-rings to ensure a good seal.I also have to give a shout out to the all the extras that come with the light. It comes well packed in a hard case with foam cutouts. It includes 2 3400mAh 18650 rechargeable batteries and charger; wrist lanyard, soft Goodman glove; extra O-rings; and a documentation packet. This is an excellent light at an excellent price point.

Love this light-very bright in low viz conditions!
The media could not be loaded. Updated:I finally got a chance to use the flashlight on a dive where a flashlight was needed. I live in Florida, it’s hurricane season and my last few lobstering and night dives had been canceled due to weather related to hurricanes off our coasts.I just went out on a sharks tooth dive in Venice, Fl where my visibility was all of 5’, maybe 7’ at best. I couldn’t see my buddies at all if they were 10’ from me so this light came in handy 1. For my buddies to have an additional way to see me and 2. For me to find some sharks teeth in such poor visibility water. I posted a photo of the high beam as well as the low beam light. Dive light is easy to turn off and on with a simple push of the button. The only thing I worry about is the light accidentally being turned on if it bumps something in my dive bag just because it turns on and off so easily. The good news is you receive 2 batteries in this setup so it should never really be an issue.Overall after getting a chance to use it in some very poor underwater visibility conditions I am very pleased with this light and I can honestly say I would recommend this to any divers out there!I just received my Orcatorch D550 and can't wait to get it underwater to give it a go and test it out. Out of the box the torch seems to be very sturdy and of good quality. The light is very bright. It has a low beam, a high beam and a flashing strobe light which all seem to work quite well on land. It comes with a wrist strap, a lanyard, 2 batteries which is nice so I have a back up to swap batteries if one is getting low. It also comes with the charger and a few extra o-rings. It suggests to lubricate the flashlight threads on occasion and there is no lubricant included. I messaged Orcatorch and they said to use vaseline. I work in a scuba shop and was comparing this to one of the lights we have in stock and this is almost identical to one we sell for $110 only this one comes with two batteries and a wrist strap, the other does not. The body of the other has a few minor differences and has 1050 lumens where as this is 1000. My current underwater torch has a switch I twist to turnout on and on almost every night dive I bump it and it gets switched off which is frustrating when lobstering so I am really excited as this one has a push button on the end of it. It's set into the handle a bit so I don't believe it can turn off as easily as my current torch. The only negative comment I have on this kit is the wrist strap is way too big for a woman's hand so I need to find one that is smaller as I'd like to have a wrist strap so I can film or lobster and not have to worry about holding on to the flashlight as it would free up a hand. I am going on a lobster dive toward the middle of the month and will upload a video and add some photos underwater and update my review. As it looks so far it seems to be of a great quality and a competitive price in comparison to others on the market. The ultimate test will be taking it on my dives so I will add onto this review once I get back from my dive.
