Adequate for what it is
The purchase of this Skil 5180-01 circular saw was prompted by having loaned my previous saw out to someone who apparently never returned it. I had a week-end project I've been putting off for awhile and I got motivated to go out and buy the plywood to do it, only to find out later that I was missing my saw. So I ordered one of these - mainly based on the price and the availability. For the price this is a pretty decent piece of equipment, but make no mistake - it's not what I would call professional contractor grade equipment. But for occasional DIY home project use its very serviceable. Especially given you get a blade with carbide tips. I highly recommend reading the instructions / safety guide if you've never operated something like this. And wear safety glasses when operating it (it makes a lot of sawdust).Setup was easy, just install the blade and you're ready to go. The adjustment for the depth of cut is sort of wonky (IMO), but I can work with it. I also thought the trigger safety was awkward to disengage, but again that's sort of the point of a safety feature.All-in-all I think this saw will do till I get around to buying something more heavy-duty. But for now I've been just using it to cut 3/8" plywood into 4'x8" strips and it's doing an adequate job of that. I'm happy with my purchase.
