This is how dry apricots are supposed to taste: dry, chewy, and tart! The fruit, before it's dry, is somewhat sweet with a tinge of tartness. When you dry it, the juice evaporates, so tartness increases in proportion. There are also different varieties of apricots, some more sweet and some less -- these are a bit less, and thus best if you love the tartness.I've tried over five different product brands in the US before I found this, and nothing was quite right: under-dry, too sweet, not chewy, not tart enough by a stretch.For context: my mother grew up in Uzbekistan, where apricots, among some other fruits, are so abundant that people prepare them in all possible ways. I've visited, so I kind of know my way around dry apricots.

The size, color, texture and taste of these dried apricots are fantastic. There is a slight tartness mixed in the mild sweetness which I remembered from my youth (60-70 years ago) and was having a hard time finding in the dried apricots I recently bought at various local stores. Those I found locally were in some combination of too large, plump, sweet or soft.

I love dried apricots, but not the unflavorful Mediterranean apricots. These are great tasting, perfect dryness, not too chewy and nice color. Make wonderful apricot truffles!

Normally I do not write reviews. But I feel compelled to do so in this case. I have to say first that I absolutely have adored these apricots in the past. But the last two orders I have purchased have come back almost inedible. Whatever preservative is being used, you may want to adjust. When opening the bag the smell is an assault, the chemical smell is intense and if I do not air them out I have trouble breathing. The last bag I threw out and I am considering throwing this one away as well and never purchasing again. Please note, this review should not be taken as a gripe, it is simply for you to be aware and for you guys to fix the problem. I decided to order again hoping that the last batch was just a bad batch, but this one is even worse that the last. Immediate breathing troubles just by opening the bag. Please contact me regarding a refund.

California apricots are so much better than Turkish apricots. These are not as big as some but very flavorful which is why I spend extra to get apricots from California.

The apricots seem smaller than the picture and not as bright, but good.

Size wasn't very consistent I thought they should be better, bought some 2 yes ago and they excellent I used the first ones for eating and making jams. These latest one didn't come close for quality.
