Very Good Cable
I really wanted cable that was UL and CSA approved, but after giving it a LOT of thought, I decided that my insistence on those approvals was 'overkill.' After coming to that conclusion, it made the choice of this 100' section of 8/3 SOOW an easy one. The cable soon arrived and I carefully inspected every aspect of it. It's very well made and the outside insulation composition and thickness are easily and beyond adequate to provide the safety I wanted. By the way, if you're making the 'typical' 100' generator extension cord, and you're going to go with 10/3 to save some money - I think you're making a mistake. Give your generator and appliances a break. Go 'up' to #8 gauge wire. What's the difference? A lot actually: when pulling 20 Amps, the 10/3 will lose 60% more Watts than the 8/3.

Good cord for extension or replacement.
I used this cord on my welder instead of making an extension cord for the 4' long cord on the machine. Reused the existing plug and it allows much greater mobility. The cord is flexible and the quality is good and rolls up easily to hang on my weld cart.

Brand substitution
Brand was advertised as Carol, I got Southwire Royal. Maybe I missed some fine print...Anyhow should work fine for the application.

So far so good.
I used this on my 7500W workshop heater mounted on a swivel. I was previously using a dryer power cable, which when cold, would stiffen to the point where I couldn't point it in the desired direction. This cable stays flexible in temps down to the single digits (hasn't gotten colder than that since I installed it).
