Is there anything special about this connector? It looks like a normal set of electronic jumper pins to me.

The pins are about the same diameter as a #1 paperclip (1-9/32" long). Just cut 3 pieces down to the same length (1/2" to 3/4"). You might need to tilt the remotes both back to put pressure on them so they make proper contact. If you are reprogramming existing remotes and opener to a new code, you will need to regenerate the code on the remote before pairing to the opener. To do that, you need to short out 2 of the pins and hold down each button one at a time to have it regenerate a new code. Either put the 3 pin jumper in and hold a metal object on 2 of them or bend a paperclip into a U. Marantec is unique because the remotes have the code that the opener learns instead of the other way around. That's why you have to use these jumpers to clone the remotes.

Does this work with M4700 Model?

I thought I needed this to program the exterior door opener I ordered. I didn't. I don't know what a M4700 is but I watched as the technician programed my (5) Marantec garage doors using this item. Good luck!

Does this work with the model M4500e

NO. This part will not work if you are trying to program a new remote by connecting your older remote with this product. You need an "old to new connector" which they don't make anymore so you basically have to either get a better garage door opener or you are stuck with only one remote for the rest of your life.
