excellent rod, but it won't make the fish bit more
I bought this for a recent trip to the sea. I was told how great the fishing was down there. How easy it was to catch sharks. How much fun it was going to be. But like most things when I get there I am told, man you should have been here last week!Overall the reel is excellent and works so much better than the cheap alternatives. Casts are fun and tangles are less frequent for me. I can't talk about how much fun it was to pull in a big fish since I was a week late but I bet it would have been something special!

clunky, with grinding sound.I returned it and re order another to see if that just a fluke with a bad product.

Penn series
I have the 750ssm, the 550 ssg, and the old 4400ss. I couldn't be happier with these reels. They are easy to take apart and service, and there are plenty of replacement parts out there if a piece ever breaks. No, they are not as smooth as a higher end shimano ( that I also love as well), but I know they are built to last. I go surf fishing with the 750 all the time and am confident that my reel will not fail me.

Penn 300 yard 30 pound reel
This reel is a pleasure to use. When l have alot of line to take in, I realize just how nice it is. Nice long crank handle with a knob that fills your hand. The drag is easy to get that fine adjustment that we all want in a reel. It is not a fancy reel, but it is a reel that works really well.
