Nice Bike
For the occasional young rider, this bike is great. The quality seems to be good. I bought it for my granddaughter. This is her first bike with gears and hand brakes. She is catching on to using them quickly. The only slight problem was that some tools, which were supposed to be included, were missing. I purchased this through the Amazon Warehouse. Although every item I have purchased through the Amazon Warehouse have been fine, this bike was returned by someone who didn't return all of the tools. Yet, I saved over $100.00. I guess the inconvenience that the missing tools created wasn't as bad since I save about 1/3 of the cost. The bike I bought is a light purple or lavender. The color is so pretty. We also got a basket for the bike. My granddaughter loves the whole package!

Amazon Warehouse is awesome, and so is this Bike
I pitchased this mongoose from the warehouse in damaged packaging, so i saved almost $150. i was a tony bit bummed because this package was supposed ro still containe all hardware and the assembly tools and there was a nut missing and no tools, but i had the stuff 8 needed in my bike tool kit. and i borrowed the nut from an old bike. it was pretty simple to assemble, just had to put on the front tire, handle bars, seat (which has a quick release nut ao that was super easy. with that assembly andbthen adjusting the brajes and putting air in the tires i think it took me about 45 minutes. i took it out for a ride and it runs great! omly thong i had to do was raise the sear a little more because i am 5 foot 3 and right at that cusp for riding a 24 or 26 inch this frame is 16.5 i believe whoch feels good for my shorter legs.

This is a nice, solid bicycle
This is a nice, solid bicycle, and my daughter loves riding it. The assembly took a bit of time, but it was not overly difficult. The only real problem I've had is that the front derailer will not push the chain onto the big gear, but this is just a matter of figuring out how to adjust it, which I have not taken the time to do yet. The instruction book that came in the box is quite thorough and was very helpful for learning how to adjust the brakes, so I am sure there will be no issue figuring out the derailer. My only complaint about this bike is the kick-stand. It is mounted at the rear tire and is a bit tricky to operate properly. If not done correctly, it doesn't come fully forward, and the bike then has a tendency to tip. Even when extended fully, however, its position at the very rear of the frame makes the bike want to tip unless it is parked on a very flat surface or oriented precisely relative to any incline in the ground. This is a relatively minor issue, though.

Great bike, easy to assemble
I bought this bike for my 9-year old daughter for Christmas. It looks great, was easy to assemble, and will likely last until she grows out of it. One small issue: the kick stand that comes assembled on the bike is a joke. It is angled toward the back of the bike so that the bike easily rolls forward and tips over. Tried adjusting the mechanism but could not fix it. I will probably try to bend it to be more perpendicular to the ground before I give in and buy a new one from somewhere else. Nutshell: the kickstand is aesthetically pleasing but engineering-challenged. Yet I am still giving this 5 stars.

Highly Recommended - Great Value
11 year old daughter absolutely loves this bike. Purchased two months ago and not a single negative thing to report. Great value, free shipping (Prime), VERY easy to assemble….comes practically assembled already. I did add purple LED light bars (separate purchase) to be seen better if riding home at dusk from neighbors house. The bike is very solid and gives her a steady ride on and off road. She adapted to the shifts quickly as well. Not much else to say except we all love this purchase and highly recommend it.

Not easy to put together but seems a decent bike
This bike was not easy to put together (and I am quite handy). The shifter levers and brake levers had to be loosened from their shipped positions on the handlebar and re-tightened in their new positions. The front brake came assembled on the front fork, but had to be loosened to make room between the brake pads to push the fat tire between the pads. In that process the brake cable came off its anchor and had to be crimped and put back into the brake anchor, which means we had to re-tune the front brake. We put everything together, tested it - it rides well - and plan to now redo everything with the addition of lithium grease. Overall I would suggest a 13" frame for girls of the height targeted by this bike, instead of the 15". Girls have shorter torsos and ours appeared to need to stretch to reach the handlebars and brake levers.

Fantastic bike!
Very strong and well made bike. Secure.Easy to assemble, but the brakes take a while to adjust (but that’s the same with any hand brakes). Highly recommend! My daughter loves it. She’s just under 5 foot and it fits her perfect.

Be prepared for an assembly headache
After assembling the bicycle, following all instructions impeccably, I took the bike to a bicycle shop for fine tuning because the bike was not working properly. The brakes didn't work and the gears weren't shifting properly. The shop told me that the the gear system is bent and some parts need to be replaced. Fine-tuning cost is estimated at $75. The additional repairs cost are estimated at $20 for parts and more for labor. As of now, I'm giving this bicycle one star because it is un-rideable, given it arrived damaged. I've reached out to Mongoose to see what their solution is. If they offer a decent solution, then I'll update my review based on their solution. I'm hoping I don't need to repack the bicycle and ship it back since I'm 90% the way to the finish line for being able to ride the bike. I'm a bit disappointed for two reasons: 1) the product arrived damaged and the damage was not clearly obvious and 2) It has cost me more money than I expected to get the bike rolling.
