Informative and accessible
Unlike some period histories, this is a very accessible book. While not as detailed as some, it offers plenty of insite into a period that often gets over generalized and largely overlooked. Worthy of being read.

an overview only
not a book for the serious reader; probably a junior high level book

Book received a long time ago.
Loved the book. I am a fan of what our Scottish and Irish Ancestors did in the past.

Good summary of each barbarian tribe\kingdom. History of Attila was fascinating. I would love to see books on Ireland, Wales and Iberian peninsula (Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Basque)
Great display of the impact of Julius Caesar on the Barbarian world as well as Byzantine Empire after the Fall of the Western empire and how the Barbarian kingdoms contributed to that fall
