CSET English Subtests I-IV Book + Online (CSET Teacher Certification Test Prep) Third Edition, Revised

This proved to be a good resource and study aid before I took the CSET English. Each chapter has clear and concise information. There are two full length practice tests, with explanations of answers for the multiple choice sections (subtest I and II) as well as sample constructed responses with analysis. The first full length test however pulls directly questions from the proceeding chapters examples. While this was helpful in familiarizing myself with the test structure and question types, the questions at times seemed to require me to recall rather than apply. As well, I did notice that the sample test questions were very similar to those that can be found for free on CTC website. There are so few sample tests and practice tests available online, and those that I did find had very similar, if not the same, questions for subtest I and II. Overall though, a great resource that served me well. I completed both practice tests in this book, reviewed the answers, and reviewed the main points in early chapters before taking the actual CSET. I passed in the first sitting, and found many of the practice questions in this text very similar to those that I faced on the actual CSET exam (especially for subtest I and II).

This was the perfect review for the CSET single subject test. I felt that it was particularly helpful for subtest 2. It was practically the same material.

Overall, this book does a great job at outlining the most important key terms and concepts that are on the CSET exams. It’s awesome having 2 sets of practice tests at the end of the book. I studied for about 3 weeks using this book, but I also used some outside resources, and I ultimately passed. I would recommend using this book in addition to Quizlet, other study books, and the CSET practice exams that are available on the Commission on Teacher Credentialing website. Good luck to you all!

This turned out to be a great purchase. I wasn't sure what to expect from the CSET, so based on the previous reviews I bought this study guide. It's all I used. Basically, it has long chapters on each of the test sections, with many of the terms that you'll need to know. I took a sample test, then read through each of the chapters twice, and then took the second sample test. The tests are very similar to what you'll experience during the actual CSET. I just got back my results for sections I and II (the multiple choice sections) and passed them with flying colors. I'm hoping for the same with the writing sections, but at least I knew what to expect based on this study guide.

Great resource! I was not an English major in college (I was a Psychology major) and I depended on this book heavily; it was my bible for a few weeks. I passed my CSET on the first try using ONLY this book. I highly recommend it especially for the writing sections of the exam. There is an older review that says if you were not an English major, then you will need additional resources; that is poppycock! You can pass the exam using ONLY this just like me.

Online website is complete garbage. Access code for the practice tests does not work (bought my book brand new). Was given the option to add my code to the data base but there was no option for the CSET book. Tried deleting my account and starting over to see if that would work. I tried using my email again but was instructed that I would have to restore my deleted account to use my email. When I clicked on "restore" I got an error message saying the system could not find the requested action.The actual content in the book seems useful, but I actually haven't gotten very far because I was instructed to take a diagnostic test. That's as far as I got because of course the access code doesn't work.:::::::Update:::::::::::Just took and passed all four subsets using this book exclusively along with the free practice tests found on the CSET website. I definitely recommend taking those practice tests as well as taking the ones in the book. The website is garbage like I mentioned before (my code from my brand new books didn't work twice), but the content in the books is thorough.

It started off well, as I was able to find my code and create an account on the website. I started the diagnostic test and was 45 minutes in when the website crashed. I restarted my computer, made sure my browser was updated and even tried different browsers and incognito mode. I kept getting a fatal error message. Just to be sure it wasn't me or my computer, I tried accessing the website from my husband's computer and no luck. I will be requesting a refund.
