Works as advertised
Really the only 4 in exhaust fan soffit cover with a baffle I could find. That said, it fit well and installed with no issue. The baffle gravity closes with no issue and fit tight enough to keep out wasps or similar sized insects and outside air intrusion. It is totally plastic but built sufficiently well for the application. Only question is how it will hold up over time with outside exposure as baffle only rides on plastic pin. Nylon would have been a better material. All said, I was satisfied with the product and US made

Good, simple eve exhaust vents
I bought two of these to install two 2nd floor bathroom vent lights. They are allPlastic no springs or mechanized closing system. The plastic flap just closes by gravity. The flap works well and if you install it level there is no gaps between the flap and the housing. I have a low pitch roof and short eve and so needed something that would fit and have room for the vent line. Installation was simple. Before I decided to go with the eve exhaust vent I did a lot of research on eve vent vs roof vent and here in New England where we get over 1 foot of snow on the roof, it does not make sense to do a roof vent to me. Based on other reviews people are saying that the flap can get condensation and freeze shut in winter and based on other review suggestions I did put some silicone grease on the flap and housing edge to help repel the collection of moisture at that spot so will have to see how well this will work in winter.

Improvable Better Design
The design to vent away from your house is obviously a better than trapping potentially humid, hot air against your home but there's room for improvement. The overall vent is large enough that you're best off drilling a 4.5" hole in your eve so you can install the duct and a clamp before you attach the eave vent to your home. This gives you enough room to get the clasp of the clamp through the hole while the vent cover itself complete conceals the hole you've drilled.I'd suggest using outdoor screws to install the vent, so you don't get unsightly rust stains. A set of stainless steel screws can be found for about $1 at home improvement stores. A #8 size screw works best.As for the improvements, the design of the vent itself doesn't allow air to turn the 90 degree corner very well, causing excessive static pressure in your duct line. Thus, this vent cover might not be suited for long duct runs where you have a low powered fan. Additionally, this product works best in climates that aren't prone to massive ice, as the damper may become frozen shut.

Well-made practical soffit vent
When I needed to route the exhaust from my bathroom to the outside, I opted for a soffit vent because it seemed to be the least intrusive (compared to a wall vent and a roof vent). The first one I tried was a universal 4"-6" spring loaded vent from Lowes. The plastic was very brittle and the spring mechanism tended to bind up. It rusted shut after 2 years. I like this new Under Eave Vent, since it closes with a simple gravity flap. The old vent from Lowes was circular and would allow moisture-laden air to be picked up by the other soffit vents and routed into the attic. This unit allows you to route the warm, moist bathroom air out away from the house. The construction is robust and the plastic feels flexible and durable. The unit itself is also pretty small, so it will be fairly unobtrusive. I highly recommend this item.

Worked great
Worked out for a under soffit dryer vent

Very flimsy
If installed on uneven surfaces and perfectly squared, the liver does not close properly. It is made of cheap plastic.

Best eve vent ever used!
I have several of these in place for over 8 years. The continue to look great and function perfectly. I have tried many other that always had problems with fit or poor operation etc. I clorox my eves every year or so and these are just like the vinyl and clean up beautifully. The 4" flex pipe fits it great too. Flap seals nicely when no air. Highly recommend. Great price too and made in USA!

Hopeful solution
I hope this vent resolves my bathroom fan ventilation issue. It seems to be just what I need-a vent to force exhaust air away from the soffit. I purchased it this winter but the Contractor just installed it. He said it was not difficult to install. I had read all the reviews and tips by others and gave them to him. I tried the bathroom fan after installation and it worked well. A screen was places inside the vent to act as a bug shield. It will be easy to reach out the window in Winter if it does freeze up. I didn't feel comfortable placing a regular vent in the soffit nor going through the roof. I had a nice 15 ft run put in last Summer with a total reconstruction on the second floor and the vent pipe ran in the crawl space and vented on the side wall of the house. This didn't work out either because the fan did not generate enough force to open the side of house vent door-too long of a run, or moisture remained in insulated pipe and made the vent door freeze? This wasn't fun as I had to open the window in the cold sub zero weather to vent the room. This vent is 4 inches with one flap. It is smaller than I expected. The vent tubing went on with a snug fit and secured by both bracket and foil tape. I rate it 4 stars until I go threw this winter and see how it performs. If it does well I probably will purchase another just to have if ever needed. This is a hard to find product and nice to see Amazon offering.
