A more interactive worker placement game
This is a great worker placement game. Each player is trying to become the next head of the University by trying to earn votes from the school board. The majority of the voters are hidden at the start, but slowly you can discover what they want to earn their vote. Usually it's having the most of a resource or card type. The voters are randomized so you won't have the same ones every game. You gather resources by placing your mage workers on a board made up of a number of separate room tiles. There are 30 room tiles (including front and back of each tile) to create the board from, and typically you will use 8-12 boards depending on the number of players, so you can play a long time without ever using the same board set up if you want. One of the things that further differentiates this worker placement game is that the mage workers all have different powers. With the basic powers, Red mages can wound another players mage and knock them out of their spot on the board. Green mages are immune to wounding. Blue mages are immune to spells. Purple mages can be placed as a bonus before you take another action. Grey mages can be placed as a bonus after you cast a spell as an action. Then each mage worker has an alternate power variant that you can use instead for even more variety. You can gain various different spells, treasures and supporters over the course of the game which will give you even more options to take on your turn. If you can't take an action or need the specific benefit they confer, there is a set of Bell Tower cards that you pick up. Once those 3-5 cards I(depending on number of players) are taken the round ends, even if another player still has actions they could take. So you balance trying to get more actions with not running out of time to use them. You can take actions to look at a voter card to determine what they want to earn your vote. Then over 5 rounds you try to earn the most votes and become the winner. The amount of variety is staggering. It is a some what complex game, not so much in the rules, but in the amount of options available each turn. It will probably average 45 minutes per player when first learning, and can be cut to ~30 minutes per player with experience. Of course analysis paralysis prone players have the potential to really get over whelmed so you may have to be more patient or keep them really focused on planning their turns while other players are going. The theme is great and I love how interactive the game is. Kind of like mixing Magic: The Gathering with a worker placement game with spells, reactions, fast actions, and treasures that can be exhausted (tapped) for different effects. There is a great how to play video below:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qymq6wbAQsI&feature=youtu.be

AWESOME, AP-INDUCING EURO! This is the THE Harry Potter Game to Get!
Argent: The Consortium is one of the best worker-placement games I've played. Don't let the anime inspired art turn you off. This is a great game with THOUSANDS (ok...maybe dozens) of possibilities, and decisions to make. It's also got a great theme: think Harry Potter meets Game of Thrones. This game is pretty easy to learn when it comes to the basics (12 page rule book in BIG PRINT), but man oh, man it is DEEP with strategy. And there is a TON of random set up variants too!! You will not learn everything in 25 plays or more of this game, I guarantee it! You MIGHT master it after 50 plays.Argent only has 3 flaws:1) It's a HUGE table hog. There is A LOT of STUFF in this game.2) It's SUPER AP-INDUCING! Yep, you may see your friends heads explode during this game! Beware!3) There is A LOT of player interaction and not all of it friendly! Yeah....you'll be blasting each other's wizards and sending them to the hospital.Other then that, this is a must own game for fans of worker-placement and fantasy themed game! GET IT!

Game Arrived Unsealed and Obviously Used
I was shipped an open, obviously used 1st edition copy of the game... I've reached out for a replacement but it's now going to arrive too late for my planned game night. Not pumped.

Favorite Game
My all time favorite game. It’s complicated and not for new to “euro” games; but for those experienced game players it’s perfect. It had a multitude of possible strategies with great art and amazing flow. Highly recommend for those experienced players!

Very Fun Varied LONG Resource Game
Pros- I will start by saying this game is a very fun and varied resource management. It has so many options and variations that the game will never be the same whenever you play it.Con- The game takes a very very long time to play about 3hrs+, My biggest suggestion when adding new players is to start with all the simplest mechanics first. I would also suggest playing with people who can sit that long and to not play with people who overthink every turn by like 30 mins.Other- The game is very aggressive which I like, but some people may not like it. When you attack someone it is direct its not as simple as Oh i took your spot. You are directly casting spells activating abilities to totally crush another player. I would suggest not playing with people who rage or become angry if you are to target them.

Great game, loads of fun!
Great game, my group loved it! The A-B sides really help give the game a new flavor each time, from the alternate rooms to the alternate effects of each mage. The setting is unique and interesting as well, a sort of anime Harry Potter type deal. Learning it initially was a bit rough, but once we got going the turns went very quickly.

The complexity makes it fun, but can bog down play.
This game is an interesting take on the worker placement genre of games. The main problem I found is like so many others who have tried this I have personally witnessed severe cases of "analysis paralysis" in players. There are so many choices and someone who isn't quick thinking can often just stop the game while they try to puzzle through the various choices.Outside that its a great game, but due to the complexity I can only recommend this to experienced gamers or those with a lot of patience for slow play.
