Greenworks 40V 12" Cordless String Trimmer (two thumbs up)
Greetings. Last year I purchased a Ryobi 40v weed eater that costs north of $200. Despite being a Ryobi fan I was never satisfied with that machine. I was very disappointed and felt like I wasted my money. Last week I went online and researched the best, budget level, weed eaters for smaller yards to service. This particular model showed up on several lists. I was somewhat taken aback because of the price tag of a little over $100 which includes the charger and battery. Honestly, I was worried that this was a cheap product. I am happy to report that I am extremely satisfied with this Greenworks 40V 12" Cordless String Trimmer.I actually think this trimmer is more powerful than the Ryobi model which cost me twice as much. The automatic line feed works great. This is also bit more lightweight than my previous weed eater. The unit is very easy to assemble in just a couple of minutes. I also love the fact that you can edge with this model. It has a small metal bar that you can flip forward and then rotate how you hold the trimmer and you now have a very capable edger. It's not a quiet trimmer but the noise level is normal in my opinion. Lastly, it seems sufficiently sturdy and built to last for quite a while. Amazon also sells the replacement spools of line. I also purchased a six pack of replacement line spools that should carry me through the summer. If you have a small yard or area to maintain and are on a budget then I think you will be pleasantly surprised with this model trimmer.

I have used a Greenworks trimmer for 6 years
I bought a Greenworks 40v trimmer about 6 years ago & used it to literally clear an acre! I continued to use it until now, but had replaced the head with one of those universal jobs(which also worked great!). Thought I would grab another one of these at Amazon sale price of $59, but without the charger or battery, which I had several anyway. This one may be even slightly better! It is a bit quieter, and seems like it may be a bit more efficient on battery usage also. (I am able to use the smallest battery, a 2.5ah and it lasts quite a while,) I also own a Greenworks 40v chainsaw, rototiller, and hedge clippers(unbelievably powerful), so I can swap the several batteries I have and keep on working. All these products deserve a 5-star rating. This weedeater uses a very easy-to-use cap with push-in tabs for easy removal when time to replace the line. It is a double-line model, and when I want to release more line, I just push the button on the bottom and pull out an inch or two. They don't mention it in the ad, but it came with an extra double spool of line and an extra green cap.Well-packaged also, popped together and assembled in 5 minutes. It even came with a small allen wrench to tighten one screw on the stem which couples the two stem pieces together.Use with confidence; I have used it here in Arkansas for over 6 years now, where weeds grow like.....weeds!

Powerful and easy to use..4 stars for trigger interlock.
I found this electric trimmer to be powerful and easy to use. Battery lasts as long as the job takes, 1/2 hour. Easy clean after use with a small brush. Feed system seems to work as designed, though it has got hung up in the reel a few times. The only issue that I had was the safety interlock for the trigger was difficult to operate, I needed 2 hands to operate the trigger. I could not push the button with my thumb and pull the trigger with my finger. So....I opened it up and removed the 2 springs for the interlock. Much better now that it doesn't exist. I know, I'll be careful.

Quiet With More Than Enough Power
Got it yesterday and used it today. Fantastic power, 40V is fine. Anything bigger would be very heavy. It's pretty quiet too. Makes a good channel separating grass from walk/drive. Be prepared when connecting the 2 parts of the shaft to have to push very hard to get it to seat properly but other than that, this a great addition to my GW 40V lawn care tools.

This edger is a beast
The power on this is incredible-I received it today and immediately took it out to put edge on my overgrowing lawn on the drive-in sidewalks. This thing ate through my Saint Augustine grass like it was nothing. I would highly recommend the edger to anyone. Did my whole drive and sidewalk and still had half a battery left- impressive.
