I would give 3.5 stars if it were an option. The instructions are really really vague and the wood is very soft and easy broken. We got ours put together and it is serving the purpose but for the price I hoped for better quality.

The media could not be loaded. The box worked great for baby chicks. We added a light in the one end. The box is tall enough for a 32oz jar feeder. Assemble was easy and it is sturdy. A little expensive but this was the only one that ship quickly.

I purchased 2 of these boxes for 2 box turtles in July 2022 and it is now December 2022 and I am currently searching for replacements because they are falling a part, my boxes before these lasted over 5 years before breaking down. I’ve bought A LOT of bad things on Amazon but these win the award for worst purchase. The wood (if I can insult a tree by calling it that) is the cheapest material I’ve ever encountered, the trays don’t stay together at all and they are trash. Mind you I bought 2 and if it was one of them I would write it off as a bad apple but nope it’s both. Seriously do not buy this brand you will regret it. Pick ANYTHING else.

I loved the look of this online but when I removed it from the box, there were dents in the soft, thin wood and one side is warped. The hardware that comes with it is very cheap. The smaller screws are difficult to use and two of the heads broke off when hand tightening.Since this will be used indoors only, it will work fine with some repairs that I prefer to make rather than ship it back and get another one that may be the same. I would NOT recommend this for outdoor use. Rodents will chew right through the wood in one night.

This tortoise enclosure is NOT very well engineered and the instructions are very basic. When I inserted the tray there is a good 1/2 inch gap in the back. The tray is pushed in as far as it goes but the gap is still there. The materials are shoddy. Wood split while putting it together. I will need to buy additional screws to hold it securely. I will also need to buy something to block the gap where the tray doesn’t insert fully. This is fairly inexpensive and now I know why. Don’t waste your money on this poorly designed, less than standard product from China. It’s not worth it. BUT since it would cost a fortune to return to Amazon because of the weight and the size I feel I am forced to keep it, make alterations and make it work.

We actually used this for our 6 new chicks. It was nice to be able to remove th bottom and acclimate them outside a bit before they moved out permanently.
