Are the measurements listed backwards on this? It appear more like 60 wide.

I believe the above answer is incorrect. This is a valance 18" tall and 60" wide. In my opinion, need to order 2 if your window is over 40" wide, to provide fullness.

I ordered ones of sheer fabric. I have not washed mine yet but will launder them either by hand washing or on delicate in the washer. I'm not expecting any problems with them.

Would this valance be too wide for a 29 inch window?

If you want a fuller, gathered valance, it would be perfect because at 60 inches, it is twice as wide plus 2 inches than your window. However, if you want a flat valance, it is twice the length of your window so if you prefer, you could cut it in half and sew a narrow edge to finish the cut side.. It just depends if you want a full or flat valance.
