An underrated, misunderstood, great noise cancelling microphone for anyone in a noisy environment.
Hi there! If you're here and are worried about the bad reviews about how this one is worse than the original and even more expensive, then fret not! That's due to a very specific reason and not due to manufacturing quality or V-Moda screwing up.THIS BOOM MICROPHONE ATTACHMENT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, IT'S MADE FOR THE PEOPLE WHO WORK OR PLAY ON A VERY NOISY ENVIRONMENT.Let me tell you that when you work in the service/call center industry or are managing calls for clients, a company, etc. You want to sound as clear as possible with as little background noise as possible.THIS IS NOT ACHIEVED BY THE ORIGINAL BOOMPRO. The original BOOMPRO has an omnidirectional pattern and that one picks up noise from EVERYWHERE.The reason the original Boompro sounds so good is due to it mic pattern being omnidirectional which is great to capture a voices range and sound better. When you're in a silent or quiet room in general, you're best bet is always going to be the original!Back to the Boompro X model, this one is an UNIDIRECTIONAL microphone which is going to severely limit everything it picks up save for the direction the mic is pointing. That is the reason why the "voice sucks" in this microphone compared to the original. A very small unidirectional microphone IS going to sound more "muffled" and less rich compared to the other omnidirectional one! THIS IS BECAUSE THE AMOUNT OF NOISE THAT GETS INSIDE IS MINIMAL!I made some tests with really loud music beside me and also tried it out already in my noisy office with music, people chatting and noises in general. Whoever is on the other side of the mic is going to hear you CLEARLY! No matter how much noise is going on, they are still going to understand you. If you were with the other original Boompro? No dice, people are going to complain of waayy too much background noise.I own a modest pair of headphones: Audio Technica ATH m20x which I modified (very easy to do) to now have a 3.5 jack instead of soldered cable to the phones. So now I can plug in my Vmoda Boompro X! And let me tell you, There is no call center headset that can beat it at that price and I did my research before buying this. For the price that you pay for the ATH 20x modded with the Boompro X, its the best experience you can have for these types of jobs. The headphones completely cover your ears so its not like those small callcenter headsets. You can block out much noise both in your ears and what the other person hears from you.Well this one is a long review, so to sum it up:BOOM PRO X is AMAZING if you are in a noisy environment and need to be heard without the noise. If you are in a quiet or relatively silent place, the BOOM PRO will be your best bet instead. The BOOM PRO X is an underrated, misunderstood, great noise cancelling microphone for anyone working or playing in a very noisy environment.Anyone who is rating it less didn't read the items description (though the seller could make some changes to make it very clear that there is a difference in voice quality for obvious reasons) but don't worry, its not that the mic is bad, its just that its purpose is different!

Original is WAY BETTER than the V-Moda Boom PRO X
Tested the sound quality side by side and the sound from the newer model has much less bass. Also more "muffled" sound. Measured same distance for each mic from the sound. The original has a larger in line volume wheel which is a bit oversized, but it works fine.Newer Pro X edition volume in line is much smaller, BUT IT DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO ADJUST VOLUME ALL THE WAY DOWN TO SILENCE! The new model has swapable colored pieces, but this restricts the mic input to be one sided. Original version has more mic holes on top and bottom, for greater depth of sound. Stick with the cheaper version and you get better product.Have used the ORIGINAL V-MODA Boom mic for years and LOVE IT!!

Good for roleplaying a drive-thru that never updated their audio equipment since 1979
I bought it cuz I figured "Ah, it's the new version, there must be improvements!" The improvement is you can choose between six colors for the outside of the microphone cap but you seem to sacrifice audio quality. When I tried using it I used all two of my audio ports and couldn't get anything, after cranking up the mic ALL the way up I realized the stupid talkboy I had as a kid has more fidelity than this piece.I figured I screwed something up and looked up if there was a tutorial for using this thing but nah, it's just bad. Like I wish I saw all the reviews saying the X was a huge downgrade of the regular boompro, this was the fastest return I ever had. Ordered the boompro regular and hope it gets here in time.NO idea why the quality is worse, it's like a prank. I hope whoever's responsible for this fumble gets reprimanded ROFL it's like that one meme"Sometimes things that are expensive... are worse"With this knowledge in mind it's no wonder it's so cheap, the mics are worthless!

Microphone is sleeker than the original, but the mute switch sucks.
Let me start by saying I love the V-Mode boompro. in a vacuum, this product is fantastic. single cable boom microphone solution for any headphones that either include or have been modified to include a simple 3.5mm removable cable. Modmic costs too much and requires two cables. When compared to the original, they improved the microphone. It is sleek and doesn't have the issue of the housing popping apart on the microphone (so far anyways). It is directional which can be a positive or negative depending on your opinion. The thing I don't love is the controls. It's much slimmer but the mute switch is no longer proud of the casing so you can't easily hit it without looking, especially when the volume slider feels almost identical. I mute myself during meetings using the mute switch and the new one is a pain.Might glue a piece of plastic to the mute switch to make it better.

Great for office zoom calls.
Bought them to handle zoom meetings at work. I attach them on the jack of my Sony 1000XM4 and it works great. Just be mindful that the noise cancelling is not going to work since it only works over Bluetooth for this specific headphones but that has nothing to do with this product.
