Great!
I recently purchased the Mortar and Pestle Molcajete Set – 8 Inch Granite, and I couldn’t be more pleased with my decision! This set has quickly become one of my favorite kitchen tools.First off, the quality of the granite is outstanding. It's heavy and very sturdy, which makes it perfect for grinding spices and herbs. The 8-inch size is just right for both small and larger batches of ingredients, allowing for versatility in my cooking. I’ve used it for guacamole, salsas, and even for making homemade spice blends, and it performs wonderfully every time. The texture of the interior provides a great surface for grinding, and I appreciate that it doesn’t retain odors, which is essential for someone who likes to experiment with different spices. Cleaning is straightforward; I simply rinse it with water and dry it thoroughly — no need for harsh chemicals.Another great aspect is that it adds an authentic touch to my kitchen. It’s not just functional; it’s also a beautiful piece that I love displaying. I’ve received compliments from friends who appreciate the rustic charm it brings to my culinary setup.Overall, I highly recommend the Mortar and Pestle Molcajete Set to anyone who enjoys cooking and wants to elevate their food preparation. It’s durable, effective, and adds a touch of tradition to any kitchen. Definitely a 5-star purchase for me!

Love It
I needed a larger Molcajete to make salsa and this does not disappoint. It's heavy, large and beautifully made. It was easy to season before use. It could be used as a bowl after making the salsa. Easily one of my favorite kitchen items.

Nice thick material
Very happy with this so far. Very thick rock. The crushing pestle is perfect! It fits right in the palm of your hand. Unlike most that are thin. I would highly recommend this.Picture to show size comparison with dinner fork, and salt & pepper shaker

Taking the time to season it properly is worth it all.
Large and heavy duty for grinding almost anything. I was a little skeptical when I opened the box and saw the finish inside the mocahete. I diligently ground white rice in it as suggested, discarding the gray rubble. After 4 rounds of grinding rice, the "magic" started to happen. The most amazing cross hatching began to appear. Two more rice grindings, and I had beautiful grinding lines that allows me to grind my seeds and herbs better than any electric grinders. I have a dedicated brush for cleaning it out without using water. The double round "pestal" took a little bit to get used to, but, it hugs the side walls and bottom perfectly, allowing for amazing ease at grinding whole spices. It could use something attached to the feet, as they will scratch any surface it's placed on.

The best midpoint between a traditional molcajete and a more 'finished' mortar and pestle.
This thing is a bruiser, rough cut granite (no polish like you'll see on smaller fancy mortar/pestles), so you've got some surface to grind on. BUT, and here's the great thing, it's not as 'fluffy-sort of open-grain as a traditionally made molcajete (which can be quite fragile and are very porous). With this you can smash toasted nuts/seeds, grind things to a paste, or just sort of lightly mash stuff like if you want a good chunky guacamole/salsa.And it is big enough (an estimated 4 cup/ nearly 1L) capacity to make enough of a salsa or guac in one go for a party and then serve it in the bowl itself.Took a while to season (wet rice, then coarse salt, then 4 rounds of garlic cloves until the grind didn't show any more grit), but now that it's done the interior feels fantastic and my first batch of salsa is *chef kiss*.This is going to see a LOT of use in my kitchen.

Heavy duty, authentic
We purchased mainly to grind homegrown herbs into powder. We didn't realize the steps needed to clean and condition it, but wow what an amazing product. Very old world authentic. Very heavy and sturdy, made of stone. We watched a few youtube videos on how to prep it for use. Our first guacamole was wonderful! AND it looks pretty cool in our kitchen as well!
