Originally, I had an issue with the camera powering off during transit. Surfola was very responsive and sent a firmware update, which corrected the issue.

This thing stops recording randomly. It also over heats easily. If you live in a warm state, this is not for you. I have replaced this with a different brand cam. It is too unreliable.

I love this little guy. The USB-C is great and it is among the best looking dashcams out there. It's sleek but it also hides fully behind the rear view. NOTE: If you have a compass in your rear view like I do you're going to want to skip the magnetic mount and just use the mounting tape directly on the unit. The magnet is very strong and it made my compass stick on NE until I took it off.UPDATE: 1 year in, the unit does not reliably start recording on its own and continuously requires reformatting my SD card.

After I watched a pregnant woman and her boyfriend repeatedly try to step in front of a car pulling out of a drive thru, I decided I would always run dash cams. They'd step out just as a car started to pull away from the window, and step back on to the curb when the car stopped short of hitting them. Then they'd wait and watch for the next car to start pulling away, step out in front of it, and step back when the other car stopped. I know an insurance scam when I see one. When it was my turn to pull out, I made eye contact and pointed at the camera. They left.After a while I wanted a rear facing too, cuz people. This one does a good job, not the absolute sharpest but enough to show the cops the nut with road rage that smashed into the back of your car. Cord runs along the trim of my 3rd row with no issues. Easy to set up and use.

I ordered a product that came in and worked for about the first month and then became faulty. The providers of the product were kind enough to send a complete free replacement kit, front/back camera and power cable all together. Overall I personally like the camera because the resolution works for me as I have a 3440 x 1440 PC screen that I use to view my video recordings. (This is of course is personal preference). But the real reason why I favor this camera system is because the magnetic mount makes it SOOO MUCH EASIER to mount the camera wherever you want it on the car. Without having to deal with adhesive degradation or surfaces that just won't stick.

I purchased this camera in Nov 2022 and it started randomly shutting off around the end of Feb 2023. I've reached out to the Surfola support about the issue as this unit is under warranty but haven't received a response in over 72hrs. I'll update if the issue is resolved.++UPDATE++Surfola support responded after multiple attempts to reach them. They sent me a firmware update which I installed but continued to get random camera shutoffs. I sent an email to Surfola support 8 days ago letting them know the update didn't fix the issue but I haven't gotten a response. I would strongly suggest you don't order Surfola products.

Not sure what's the issue.. This dashcam starts recording but shuts off in few minutes.. Not able to contact support also.
