Great basic product for a good price!
I read many many reviews for different slow-cookers before I decided on the Hamilton Beach 5-Qt unit. This slow-cooker is basic in features and works very well, exactly what you need in your slow-cooker.The lid fits well, it doesn't get so hot that it melts the plastic handles off, the paint of the stoneware doesn't leech into your food and so on. It is just plain works. The only improvements I would suggest are:1- Warm and Hot settings seem pretty much the same. Only difference is how quickly the system gets to temp.2- There is no indicator light to tell you that it is running/power-on. So, start it a few minutes before you leave for the day and just before you pop out the door, check it to ensure that it's warming up.Otherwise, this is a great slow-cooker and one of the best Amazon purchases I have made. I don't like Amazon...

Very Nice Slow Cooker (and a littler larger than the last one)
Highly-rated slow cooker. It works perfectly. No fancy timers and gadgets. Just set High, Medium or Low and it cooks.I RECOMMEND IT!

Slow Cooker “crockpot “
This is perfect. Fit my 10 lb ham , easy to use, cooks evenly, no food burnt, weight is good, handles are durable. Get control of cook times with the different settings. Durability should serve me for a lot of years with this slow cooker.

Cooks very hot
This slow cooker holds a lot of food so I can throw a whole chicken in or beef along with vegetables and still have room so it doesn't overflow. The handles on the side of the cooker are large and secure, so it's easy to move the whole thing. The ceramic pot inside has deep enough edges so it's easy to grab when you remove the ceramic pot from the cooker. But, The ceramic pot inside is very large, heavy and awkward to wash. It get's very slippery when wet too. I kept banging it on the side of the sink accidently because it's so big and difficult to wash and rinse.I had to ladle the stew I made out of the ceramic pot because it's too heavy and awkward for me to pour like I used to do with my smaller cooker, and I was afraid I'd drop it or spill it. You may be stronger than me though. There on no rubber feet on the bottom, just metal so it will slide if pushed. The cover is glass with a metal rim , There is no rubber seal around the cover. Steam does escape from the sides of the cover so check your liquid level inside occasionally. I had mine on the high setting so if you plan on leaving the house I'd stick to cooking on the warm setting. On high, the contents will come to a boil. Quite honestly, Id be afraid to leave this slow cooker unattended while I wasn't home because the liquid dries out and I had to add extra liquid to the stew. I didn't have that problem with my old slow cooker. It's got 3 speeds, keep warm, low and high. On high the liquids actually boil so you may find dried food on the sides of the ceramic pot like I did and have to soak it to clean it. The outside does get very hot too so be careful. All in all, I do like it for the size and for the low price but if I bought it locally, I'd probably return it because frankly, I don't trust it.UPDATE.. 9/17... WARNING! I threw sausages in it on the high setting because they were frozen, and they're actually sizzling and browning. I just wanted y'all to know that this slow cooker doesn't really slow cook and it's gotta get hot inside to be able to brown sausages. It's ok for me because I'm home and able to keep an eye on it, but I'd think twice before I left it on overnight or when I was planning on being gone for a couple of hours.

Perfect size for families
Was looking for a new crockpot to use when providing food at local equine shows. This item was a great addition. Nice size, easy to clean, heats evenly offering high, low and warm. The included rubber strap to keep lid in place is awesome to enable me to transport items such as pulled pork, chili and even soup. Recommended to my family
