Works for Second Monitor via USB
I have an older Dell Latitude laptop with only 1 HDMI output and I didn't think I'd be able to run dual monitors....wrong! This adapter lets me connect a second monitor via USB and it works flawlessly. When you plug it in, you're prompted to install a driver (which passed a virus scan) and then the monitor worked immediately. I wish I had bought this sooner!Update: I had issues with it sporadically not working. To fix, I searched online for the driver name it's using per the item description - "MSDisplay_v1.0.0.18" and saw that there was an updated version available (v2.XX). I downloaded and installed it which has fixed the problem. Just a FYI in case it happens to somebody else.

Do NOT buy this thing! Infected with Trojans!!!
This thing rendered my personal laptop inoperable. It made my screen flash and I couldn’t use the laptop, so I reinstalled Windows on it and it was fine for about two weeks. The screen started flashing again and this time I couldn’t reinstall Windows because it would not download past 64%. I thought the laptop had just run its course and borrowed a friend’s laptop. I used the adapter a few times and everything seemed fine.I used the adapter today to work from home on my company issued laptop and as soon as I opened the drive for the adapter, messages started popping up saying malicious software was detected and the program was terminated. After a couple of hours, I could no longer connect to the internet, despite having a strong connection. Then cybersecurity pings me on Teams and tells me my laptop has been disconnected from the network due to Trojan like behaviors running in the background and my laptop needed to be brought into the office to be reimaged. Once there, I was told the adapter should be plug and play without the need to install software and the fact that this one is not, is suspicious. It’s too late for me to return it, so I’m destroying it before putting it in the trash.

Works GREAT!
Just got it and it works great. I had to install the driver first in order for my computer to pick up the second screen otherwise I would just get an alert that says USB detected what do you want to do with it. But once you click on the alert and then go into view files, you'll see the drivers for you to download. It was quick and easy, and the display looks amazing. I can't even tell the difference at all between my other display that is connected directly through the HDMI port on my laptop which was an issue for me because I thought there may be some difference like lag or delay but no it's perfectly fine. One thing I do have to mention is when the display first turned on it was on a different resolution scale, but it was a quick and easy fix just right click on the desktop and click display settings then choose your display and change it to the same resolution that you have your other displays on. Other than that, this is really good especially for the money. I bought an Anker USB-C to HDMI adapter first and it didn't work, I kept getting a message saying "Display connection might be limited" or something like that and I read online that maybe it's just the adapter and I should try another one, so I ordered this one and it worked perfectly.

Buggy driver
If I restart my computer after installing the driver as instructed, it does not work, but if I install the driver then skip the restart prompt it does work. Not a dealbreaker, could very well be a Microsoft issue, but currently not quite plug-n-play

Malware found on flash drive in adapter. Flash drive wouldn't work
I have windows OS and the first thing that popped up was a malware warning. I located the adapter on my laptop to see why the flash drive was not opening automatically. When I manually went to open the drive I could not do so. The malware warning went away once the adapter was removed. Thank goodness I didn't update the drivers!! I'm sure I would have ended up with the malware package on my laptop. Horrible product that does not work as advertised. 0/5.

It works but... Eh
So it actually is made of a pretty sturdy metal material. I love that black color too. You should know that the cable on it is very short, like very short. I needed this to connect my laptop (which only has one HDMI port and no other video outputs, including via USB or usb-c) to my second monitor since the HDMI port was already in use. If you're going to buy this just know that you will not have a smooth experience. It's good for if you need like just note taking or something very light on a secondary display. This would not be ideal for watching videos, gaming, etc as it has a good bit of lag to it. It's pretty easy to use though, just plug it in and install the software. You have to keep the software running the whole time to use the device, which isn't that big of a deal but I believe that means the lag can somewhat depend on your device power. It does connect easily though which is nice. One more thing I would add is that it should be plugged into a USB port by itself rather than in a USB hub. It seems very data intensive as I had it plugged into my USB hub that has my keyboard and mouse and the keyboard would barely work while the software was running. But when I plugged the device into its own port on the laptop the keyboard works fine. Honestly it should really deserve like 2 stars but you know for the price it's not horrible and for my use case, I already expected it to be bad like this and bought it anyways because I knew it would work for me.

Skeptical from other reviews, but it works pretty good
I saw other reviews but was like eh screw it, I DID have to install it without being able to see because I was trying to hook up my mac without a screen to a separate monitor, it took roughly 45 minutes of clicking into nothing but I did it!Honestly It's annoying that you have to install a sketchy software but eh it works and I don't care if that computer gets spied on it sucks 😂
