I've been experiencing performance issues for some time with my iMac 2019 5k. Slow performance... extremely slow reboots... lots of spinning beachballs... that kind of thing. After a couple of support calls with Apple, and lots of checks, they advised me to purchase this drive, and set it up as my new Startup disk.Following some simple instructions in their support doc, it was set up in no time, and once I'd migrated the data overnight (there was a lot!), my iMac's performance has vastly improved.This LaCie SSD drive is the one that Apple recommend using with my model of iMac. I believe you can use it with other models, but you must do your own checks first, and possibly even open a support call with Apple.All in all, if you're having performance issues with your Mac with the more traditional Fusion/HDD drive, and you've thought about buying a new Mac... stop and have a think first!!This was an effective fix for me, that will hopefully buy me some more years with my trusty iMac!

I read an Apple article about how I could improve the performance of my 2017 Mac by running the computer from this SSD rather than the internal Fusion Drive setup. The results have been excellent and the cold boot time has improved from over 10 minutes to one and a half. Money well spent.

Works exactly as I had read in a prior review AND a technical response on a Mac forum. This small SSD is now used as a secure Boot Disk for my older 2017 iMac (which originally has an internal drive that spins at 5400 RPM, which is a choke-point that made the machine work sooooo slow I almost had to toss it). By using the SSD, the boot sequence went from over 10 minutes, to under one minute, and now it opens all programs like it was a new computer. Great device - spending this $150 saved me from having to purchase a new computer for $1000 (or so).

I have tried to set this up with 3 new Mac's and could not finish the set up on any of them. I wasted hours trying to install doing the same things over and over. I called several experts to try to install and none of them could get it going. I tried calling to get some help from the company and could did not have any luck. I want to send them back or get someone to help me get the these. Is there any possibility of someone contacting me.

This is great for portability and versatility. Used on vacation in the philippines 🇵🇭 to off load all of our pictures and videos from our gadgets as they became full. Plugs right into our samsung galaxy phones and drag and drop contents from phones internal memory right onto the drive. Create and edit folders on the drive directly from your phone. Also worked ok iPad, samsung galaxy tab, and Microsoft Surface pro.
