Escape to Christmas Past: A Colouring Book Adventure

I brought this book at full price for my personal collection. I colour purely as a hobby, one that I put an incredible amount of time and effort in to.This is a beautiful book by Goodwives and Warriors and is the first in their "Escape To" series. (At the time of posting there are currently 4 titles in this series available) It measures at approximately 18.5cm x 18.5cm. Inside this book there are 70 illustrations. Approximately 44 single page illustrations and 26 double page spreads. Almost every illustration is drawn all the way in to the spine. I found the spine to be very tight and even after working it, it doesn't sit flat enough to be able to colour extremely close to it precisely. All the illustrations are printed double sided, using alcohol markers stains the next page. However I had no problems with gel pens or fineliners. The paper itself is non perforated, of medium quality with a slightly textured surface. I used a mix of Marco Raffines and Polychromos for most of the illustrations I've completed and found that multiple layers of pencil was difficult, as the tooth runs out quicker then I would of expected.The illustrations contained within the book are based on the story of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The original story was written during the Victorian era and a lot of the illustrations reflect that by having a very elegant by-gone feel to them.These illustrations vary from bells, mistletoe and Christmas pudding to dreamy scenes you can recognise from Charles Dickens work. Interspersed throughout the illustrations are pre printed black elements. The thicker of these are used in a few scenes to illustrate a dark night sky. There are also quotes from the original book every few pages allowing you to follow the story and understand how the illustration relates to his work.I honestly have nothing bad to say about any of Good Wives and Warriors Escape To series. You get an incredible amount of value for what you pay and the illustrations are so varied you can find almost any type of illustration within the pages. I've personally brought all 4 books from this series and love following a pictured version of a classic tale.

I have recently taken up the pastime of colouring having not done this since I was young. There is a multitude of different books available to cater for all tastes and colouring styles. In my opinion this is one of the better ones, I was going to wait to colour over Christmas but could not wait and have already started. I prefer books with a picture or something to colour rather than random patterns. It is based on A Christmas Carol so the drawings loosely take you through the story. Illustrations are good. The paper is good quality for those of you who use felt tip pens thin paper is not very good, personally I prefer water colour pencils. I have also bought Alice in wonderland book from the same illustrators. Would definitely recommend this book.Some pictures I have coloured

Escape to Christmas Past is a beautiful book filled with festive colouring fun. The pictures are certainly based on Christmas from the past which makes the book even more, special as the pages are filled with detailed drawings.I love the fact that the pages are of a top quality paper which allows me to use any of my colouring pens, even those who provide a thicker consistency of ink.This is the ideal colouring book for anyone who is into the new craze for relaxation colouring in which also mixes the Christmas Season with it.I am happy to recommend Escape to Christmas Past is a great way of escaping with the colouring in past time.

I simply love this book.The format is quite small which was just lovely in the busy time before Christmas. The pictures are old fashioned as would be expected by the title and the line drawing is clear and easy to see. There are different levels of content with some pictures quick to finish and others spread over two pages. I don't enjoy two page spreads as getting into the spine of the book creates problems and one is always in danger of breaking the spine. I have as yet not completed a two page spread in this book.The paper is of a good quality, but the pictures are printed on both sides of the page, so I would not recommend markers or wet media. I have used both pencils and gel pens and they have been fine.I really love this book and look forward to seeing any new books brought out by Good Wives and Warriors.I have included a few of my completed pictures to show some of the content. They are coloured by myself.

This a very nice quality colouring book with good quality thick pages. It is the same size as Escape to Wonderland (Alice in Wonderland) and makes a set. I like the size as it is compact enough to take out and about. The pictures are really well drawn and relate to the Christmas Carol Story and Ebenezer Scrooge. It is a perfect book for Christmas time and beyond. Good Wives and Warriors are very good artists and seem to come up with something that little bit different. I am really looking forward to the third book to complete the set which will be Escape to Oz (Wizard of Oz). but in the meantime this is lovely book for winter days ahead.

This Christmas colouring book is absolutely stunning, the pictures are beautifully designed. The Scrooge story, A Christmas Carol relates throughout the entire book, making me for the first time (in any colouring book), to colour from the very first page in order to the very end. The pages are lovely and thick so you can use pen. It is smaller then 'normal' colouring books, but to me the size does not matter at all as it is just so beautiful. I will be getting the Escape to wonderland book for Christmas as I am positive it's going to be just as stunning as this 1. I can't wait for more from Good Wives & Worriors.

I was so excited to get it. But was terribly disappointed when the book was falsely advertised (by the size of the book on Amazon looking EXACTLY the same shape & size of the ‘magical Christmas Colouring in book’......But once I got over this....the book is beautiful, so Thank you.

Livre de petit format, agréable à colorier. Les lignes des dessins sont toutefois très marqués. Le papier est de bonne qualité, les crayons de couleurs glissent agréablement. J'ai tenté l'aquarelle en petites touches et le papier semble supporter

Diese Escape-Reihe von Good Wives and Warriors ist einfach nur schön. Ich hatte erst das Büchlein über Shakespeares Werke und war so begeistert das ich mir die anderen 3 nun auch geholt habe. Dieses hier, Escape to Christmas Past, ist auch wunderbar umgesetzt, man erkennt die Szenen und es stehen auch kleine Texte dazu. Die Motive sind detailliert und sehr schön. Ich war erst verwundert weil die Bücher doch recht klein sind aber nun finde ich das sogar ganz angenehm zu händeln. Das Papier hat eine gute Stärke und ist glatt und weiß. Für normale Buntstifte und Gelstifte auf jeden Fall gut geeignet, bei Filzer bin ich mir nicht sicher. Die Heftung der Seiten ist auch gut, so kommt man beim colorieren auch gut bis in die Mitte.Ich empfehle dieses Büchlein sehr gerne weiter. Vielleicht nich für Anfänger aber es sind ja auch einfachere Motive dabei. Verpackung und Versand waren gut und schnell

I am very pleased with this book, it is a smaller sized book, but really nice to work in. It came to me in excellent condition, and I am happy with it.

Me ha gustado mucho recibirlo porque he visto que tiene muchos dibujos para colorear. Lo recomiendo para adultos así como para niños. Además llegaron en perfecto estado y mucho antes de lo que pensaba.
