Diluted,as recommended on the bottle, works well for coating LP discs with a kabuki brush before a wet bath cleaning with my Disco Antistat wet bath record cleaner. Only has a 3 year life,once opened and needs to be discarded after the third year is up. Recommended

Having had a disaster using a commercially available record/vinyl cleaning solution I felt it was time to try making my own cleaning fluid. There are many recipes available on the web. I wanted a simple gentle fluid that was easy to mix and cost effective. The base of the solution is distilled water, sometimes Isopropyl alcohol and nearly always a wetting agent. Without a wetting agent it is unlikely that the solution will get deep down into the tiny record grooves. A variety of products are recommended on the web but I felt that using one suitable for delicate film was probably the best.Ilford's "Simplicity" product was a good starting point, cheap, well packaged and easy to dispense.I found the product very easy to use but was most impressed by its' wetting capability, no smears or dry "bubbles" of dry areas on the record surface. However what concerned me most was the need for a product that reduced static on the vinyl surface. I am most impressed with how this product has dealt with reducing, indeed removing static from my records.This wetting agent does not "foam" and works well in my Degritter ultrasonic record cleaning machine. It worked equally well in my manual Knosti RCM.Having very satisfactorily tested the Simplicity product I have now purchased the 1 litre bottle. it is worth noting that a little goes a long way but I have a lot of records to clean.

I started processing my own 35mm and 120mm film at home and I was getting beautiful results from the processing itself, marred by residue from evaporated water. I didn't want to use squeegees so I started trying other ways to reduce the residue from blow-drying my film to hanging it horizontally to shaking it to using only filtered water. Nothing was working and using deionised water wasn't going to be cost-effective so I decided to buy wetting agent and chose Ilford because I use Ilford chemicals in my processing. The results have been astounding.I make up a litre of diluted wetting agent (5ml to 1000ml) and I use it in my final two film washes and then hang up to drip dry as normal. No more residue or streaks on my film. I've read in places you don't need to use as much as 5ml for a litre so I'm going to start reducing the ratio and using a pipette to measure ml increments until I get a good balance. This means that you should be able to make well over the 200 litres you can at the recommended dilution, so depending on how you do your film, it could last anywhere from 200-1600 rolls...NB I've used the wetting agent in both Paterson spiral tanks and a Rondinax 35U with equally good results.

A must have product when following any non digital photography. I've used this product ever since my college instructions in the 80s. It makes water 'Wetter' and allows it to flow off negatives and prints. It can be used in other applications where residues need to be kept to a minimum.I found RK photographic... The darkroom. Co. They have items that are becoming difficult to find and are well worth a first place enquiry for anything related to photography.Highly recommended.Ilford products are a brand that has been used by every photographer I would bet and in my opinion is a traditional trusted superior product.Best wishes.

Brilliant product which was regularly used when processing film and printing during final wash and also added to developer to ensure even and immediate coverage.Now used for other purposes but still brilliant for cleaning spectacle and photographic lenses, and the glass platterns of scanners and photocopiers. Probably needed a far smaller quantitiy as this much is overkill.

Difficult to review really, it does what it says on the bottle, it's a photographic wetting agent (old school, negatives and stuff) but probably the best and purest, which is why I use it in vinyl record cleaning solutions. Not cheap, but you need VERY little... goes a long, long way. P.S. Buy it while you can, it's getting harder and harder to find these days.

This is a product recommended for use as a wetting agent in a cleaning process for vinyl records. It worked as indicated it would in the first stage of the process.

Works well with distilled water.

This stuff was brought to my attention by a friend who uses this when he cleans his vinyl. But I discovered something important: You don’t use just a thimble full: you use a capful + a dab, which totally eradicates the static off your vinyl in the future. This stuff is amazing.

This is a great product for what I use it for. I clean lots of vinyl in a ultrasonic machine.
