David Suchet is brilliant at reading and voice is relaxing.
Used to listen to him reading extract on social media. David Suchet has such a lovely narrotion voice and this was a project of his that he wanted to complete. If you are looking for an audio English version of the Bible that isn't computer generated and isn't monotonous, then David Suchet is the reader for you. Recommend.

Makes sense of the Bible
When I read the Bible then I don't hear the best version of the text. Listening to David Suchet reading it makes much more sense, and is far more enjoyable!

Excellent audio Bible
David Suchet's voice is just right for reading the Bible, and he achieves the right balance between straight reading and 'acting', putting good expression into speech but not too much into narrative. I'm not a fan of the NIV, preferring a more literal translation for study, but it's very good for reading aloud and I'm loving this recording. There is no music (which I understand spoils many audio Bibles). Suchet reads with a sincerity that comes across, because he respects what he's reading as the word of God. I love Suchet as Poirot, but have no difficulty disassociating his reading voice from the little Belgian, because the accent is so different. These are MP3 recordings, and you need a modern player to play them, one that specifically says it can read MP3. On my car player I can't find any way to pause a CD, so when I switch on again it goes back to the beginning of the disc, making my hopes of listening while driving unrealistic. On my indoor radio/player I can pause it, then switch off at the player before switching off at the socket, and it will start at the chapter I stopped at. However, if I've switched to radio in between, it starts the disc again, so I have to manually find the chapter I was on (having written it down as I'm unlikely to remember). This is a nuisance, but I presume it's common to all MP3 recordings.

“[THEY] FORGOT MY NAME” - Jeremiah 23:27
Excellent, engaging reading of the whole New International Version of the Bible, captured on 6 x MP3 CDs.(Incidentally, these "DATA CDs" play perfectly on my two-year-old Sony Blu-ray player (some reviewers had tech issues), despite it not having the "necessary" MP3 logo (the instruction manual confirms its MP3 compatibility), although I do have to switch, via the menu, from "Video” mode to "Music" mode to enable them to be played.)Like most Bible translations, because God's name (Yahweh/Jehovah) has been unnecessarily removed and the text has been "Trinity tweaked", it does not deserve the full five stars. Also, the NIV makes countless, blatant - and audacious - grammatical errors by changing scriptures such as “I am Jehovah [Heb. ‘Yahweh’]. That is my name” to “I am the LORD; that is my name!” (Isaiah 42:8)Most people would agree that a title is different to a name, eg: the British monarch’s name is Elizabeth, while her titles include “The Queen”, “Her Majesty”, HRH etc.Regardless of whether you want to call God “Jehovah/Jahweh” or not, if something is simply and grammatically wrong, and totally at odds with the ancient Hebrew-Aramaic and Greek texts that modern bibles are based on, then the integrity of the NIV Translation should not be compromised on such an important matter. The Bible “Jehovah/Jahweh-removers” usually excuse their actions by saying that it is because “we don’t know how God’s name is to be pronounced exactly”.But this is a lame excuse, as we also don’t know how to pronounce hundreds of OTHER Biblical names “authentically”, either (including Jesus’ [Heb. Ye·shuʹaʽ/Yehoh·shuʹaʽ - which means “Jahweh/Jehovah Is Salvation”], but the NIV still faithfully retains every single one of them.Imagine if YOUR personal name was removed nearly SEVEN THOUSAND times from your book. How would you feel? And you are not Almighty God, the author of this great divinely-inspired masterpiece. What other effect does this “air-brushing” out of God’s name have? Please let me illustrate:Do you have any close or loving relationships with anyone - be it family, friend, husband or wife - where you no longer use their personal name?Of course not. In fact, to stop using their personal name would be a sign that the relationship between you both had broken down.Likewise, how can someone say “I love God” without ever using - or WANTING to use his personal name?Furthermore, who cannot fail to be moved by the spine-tingling words at John 12:28 where Jehovah/Jahweh - Himself - speaks DIRECTLY (usually it is via angels) from Heaven:“‘Father [Jesus says], glorify your name!’ Then a voice came from heaven, ‘I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.’”(NIV)Yes, amazingly, it is the same NIV Bible I have just quoted from that has removed God’s name from the entire Holy Scriptures and, in effect, is condemning itself.(Please also notice how the above scripture de-bunks the pagan Trinitarian myth [introduced into the Church in the 4th cent.] that “Jesus is God”.(If the trinity were true it would mean that Jesus was talking to HIMSELF both from Earth AND from Heaven [Church leaders often fob their baffled parishioners off with: “Aah, it’s a mystery!” to justify a doctrine that is completely false and originates from the ancient Babylonian worship of triune “3-in-1” gods.])Now, please, let’s look at the bigger picture.Who is the one in these “last days” (2 Tim 3:1) that hates God - and His personal name - the most?“The great dragon was hurled down – that ancient snake called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray.” (Rev 12:9 NIV).Notice that Satan (whose name the NIV faithfully retains, incidentally) “leads the whole world astray” including, sadly, even the majority of today’s Bible translators. Also, remember when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness: “Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour. ‘All this I will give you,’ he said, ‘if you will bow down and worship ME [my caps.]’” (Matt 4:8,9 NIV)The LAST thing the Devil wants in this doomed - and unspeakably vile - Satanic world is for honest-hearted truth-seekers to know God’s name and draw close to Him (“Come near to God and he will come near to you.” James 4:8 NIV)But, sadly, the NIV translators don’t want to you to know the greatest and most important name in the universe - the person who CREATED the universe (Jehovah/Yahweh means “He causes to become”).If we only use the titles “God” or “Lord”, it makes God anonymous and impersonal, and doesn’t distinguish “the living and true God” from other - false - gods (Thes 1:9).However, despite the my criticisms, the NIV is both clear and understandable; this combined with the reader’s smooth vocal burr and dulcet tones is the perfect way to end the day - and gradually complete the entire Bible - by either reading along or simply just listening and vividly picturing the scriptural accounts in one's mind's eye.(Please also explore and enjoy the translations that have restored or retained Jehovah/Yahweh’s personal name [New World Translation; Byington’s Living Bible; American Standard Version etc] to the greatest and most widely-distributed book [over ONE BILLION copies] of all time.(“That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.” (Psalms 83:18 King James Version* - produced in 1611)(*368 years later, in 1979, the New King James Version removed God’s name from Psalms 83:18 and replaced it with “Lord”.(“[They] forgot my name” - Jeremiah 23:27(But the removal, dismissal - and even hatred - of God’s personal and holy name (“Hallowed be your name” - Jesus’ words at Matthew 6:9) will not last forever:(“... And I will vindicate the sanctity of my internationally desecrated great name... the nations shall know that I am Jehovah” - Ezekiel 36:23 (The Bible in Living English)

The perfect recording: quiet, sincere and untheatrical.
In the past audio CDs of the whole Bible were vast and unmanageable. They were also often recorded by people trying too hard to be dramatic and theatrical. This recording is blissfully free of both faults. It's perfect. David Suchet reads with quiet authority and that unique voice of his in a way that never wearied as I listened. His personal respect for the text shines through and it's great that it's in modern English too, rather than Shakespearian KJV English. (Beautiful, but obscuring the meaning) To get the whole Bible onto just half a dozen MP3 CDs is amazing in itself. it removes all the endless disc-changing. I actually listened to a lot of the discs in the car whilst driving, and for that they are perfect. Since buying this I have happily listened to the whole Bible and much of it more than once. Surely an unimaginable thing previously. If I have one criticism it's that while each disc is indexed for the start of every single chapter, there is no way to skip to the start of a particular book. So you either have to go the long route through many chapters to get where you want or click-on over possibly scores of track numbers. Small criticism though. Thank you, David. You have given us something to truly value here. And I shall continue listening to your soft, resonant voice.

Perfect for those with visual disabilities, and at a great price!
I love this audio Bible, read by Sir David Suchet, renowned British actor of stage, screen, and television. His well-trained voice makes whatever he reads come to life. He make the Bible relatable and relative in this 21st Century, without commentary, personal teaching, or private interpretation. The set of 6 CDs have well divided tracks, making it easy to find any Bible book and chapter on a disc. It was my Christmas gift to myself!

Duchet's voice is so perfect for this
I'd recommend this to anyone. You can listen while doing housework or commuting or before going to sleep. David Duchet's voice and the way he reads is the best I've heard.
