Fun and slightly macabre coloring book based on stories by Neil Gaiman – printed both sides of page
The media could not be loaded. This is a coloring book of designs based on stories by Neil Gaiman’s stories for children. The illustrator in this book is Jill Thompson. The stories include: “The Graveyard Book”, “Coraline”, “Fortunately, the Milk”, “Instructions” and “Crazy Hair”. Some of the designs are slightly macabre but are quite fun and represent the stories really well. While the designs are detailed in nature, they are not what I consider intricate and difficult to color. There is a heavy use of black for shading (including cross hatching) and as a pre-printed color throughout the coloring book. As colored pencils (my medium of choice for this book), shows up on black, I will have to be careful when coloring near the bigger patches in the designs. This is what I found while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium.96 pages of designs based on Neil Gaiman stories(includes title and copyright pages as all pages have coloring elements on them.)Printed on both sides of the pagePaper is medium/heavy weight, white, slightly smooth and non-perforatedMany designs (including the two page spreads) merge into the binding area.Hybrid glue and sewn binding with lots of little stitches. If you wish to remove pages, you will have to cut them out. I don't plan to do so as many of the designs spread across two pages.Alcohol-based markers bleed through this paper. If you use this coloring medium, it will mar the designs on the back of the page.Water-based markers, gel pens, and India ink pens did not bleed through the paper but did leave slight shadows on the back of the page.Colored pencils worked fairly well with the paper. The paper still has enough “tooth” to get good pigment. I tested both oil and wax based pencils and both worked well. I could layer the same color for deeper pigment, layer multiple colors and blended okay using a pencil style blender stick.

Well-made and Unique
It has a really nice matte finish on the cover and the coloring pages are well selected from the 5 children books chosen: The Graveyard Book, Coraline, Fortunately the Milk, Crazy Hair, and Instructions. The only issue I have is the fact some of the pictures are out of order from the original books. However, overall it's worth buying and the opportunity to have a coloring book based off of books is not a common product.

Great Art: Fun, Beautiful, High Quality
Well, if this isn’t the coolest! I bought 2 of these books. I wanted One to keep mint and one to color. The images are beautiful and vary across stories. If you are an adult or a child old enough to enjoy some of Gaiman’s ‘darker’ but whimsical work you will love this coloring book. The pages are thick allowing for double sided coloring with gel, crayon, or pencil. Mix it up, don’t be afraid to outline and scribble. Make mistakes and make art. Make great art within this great art!

Heck yes- this is cool
My daughter reads the coolest stuff in the world. Her bedroom is a literal library of awesomeness. Last year my horrible little yorkie, Cappy, ate her UK version of The Graveyard Book (which she had reluctantly let me borrow). I was blamed for this travesty (because Cappy's badness is somehow MY fault..). Since then, I have been trying to regain her trust and favor (and convince her to let me read her cool stuff again). I started with a signed copy of Neverwhere. She loved it, but wouldn't let me borrow it. I even bequeathed my X-Men comic collection and (Walking Dead) Glenn Mini Funko to her- but still, she doesn't budge. This Neil Gaiman coloring book is my latest effort to wiggle back into her good graces. Wish me luck.

Large Tooth Paper
I love the artwork. But the paper is very textured with a large tooth, which I don't prefer.

Beautiful Gaiman Coloring Book
This is a truly lovely book and I’m happy I was gifted it for my birthday. Older Neil fans may be disappointed since it’s mostly newer works featured. It’s a must for your collection though—who thought Neil would ever have a coloring book??
