Second time lucky
I hope that I am not tempting fate. The replacement saw arrived today and appears to be everything that I had expected from Dewalt. The first one had a melt down almost immediately. Rubbish. Useless. It was not user error. I have been using chainsaws longer than most customer service people have been alive. I have a cordless dewalt pole saw and a cheap battery one from Aldi and obviously before this, have had a few decades of 2 stroke engines. Lots of yellow dewalt tools in my shed so it was logical to use existing batteries and buy a bare chainsaw.Amazon were great and helped me return the faulty one and arranged a replacement. This new one is everything I need. No screaming engine that creates noise even when idling. Cuts through a tree branch without blinking. Branch cut up and split faster than I thought.I almost asked for a refund rather than replacement. But if it carries on like this, I will be a satisfied dewalt customer.

Excellent machine
So much easier to use than either petrol or electric. Light enough when having to carry up a ladder. A 9ah battery lasts about 30 minutes, and its costs so little to charge each battery. No need to drag extension cables around or mess around filling petrol. Has more than paid for itself.

Broke second time
Started smoking after 2mins of use and then stopped working altogether. This is my replacement chainsaw. Not sure if I want to have a 3rd to try. Better of with a petrol sthil
