This is a well-planned, thorough grammar book for young children who are beginning to write independently. Each lesson is clearly laid out, it is repetitive but that helps to reinforce each point. As each lesson is short then the repetition is not tedious but helps the child remember the rule. My 7 year old is working through it easily and it is improving his spelling and sentence building skills.

We love first language lessons. As home schoolers we have been through book one and two. It's a fantastic resource. Very old fashioned and repetitive. But we love the style. My 7 year has learnt all the definitions for English grammar and it also encourages learning poems by heart ( part 1 and 2)

What I needed to homeschool my son. He is year 7. These authors are brilliant, I use most of their books. Seller posted this on time. High 5 stars. Justine

Great book

First Language Lessons is a great, scripted lesson series of books to teach children grammar. Level 1 and 2 are verbal lessons for children will a small amount of dictation at the end of each lesson but this level 3 book is a workbook for the child to write their answers and practice grammar. The lessons are all scripted so it is easy to use and this workbook is laid out in a simple way, giving children a small number of exercises on each page. There are often guidelines for writing sentences, helping the child with handwriting. The lessons are not super fun or exciting but they will give your child a good grounding in basic grammar (nouns, adjectives, verbs, pronouns, conjunctions and much more). A large amount of this book teaches the child to diagram sentences.
