Comfortable, Roomy Trail Shoe That Handles Long Miles with Ease
I’ve been running in the Altra Lone Peak 7 trail shoes and they’ve quickly become my favorite for both short and long runs. The wide toe box is a game changer-my toes finally have room to splay naturally, which keeps my feet comfortable even after hours on the trail. The cushioning is just right: not overly plush, but supportive enough to handle rocky paths and long distances without making my feet feel tired.Traction is solid on dry and moderately technical terrain, and the shoe feels stable and secure thanks to the snug lacing system. I also love the zero-drop design, which gives a more natural feel underfoot, though it did take a little getting used to. If you’re looking for a lightweight, breathable, and durable trail runner that’s especially good for wide feet and everyday trail use, the Lone Peak 7 is a fantastic choice.

I love this shoe!
I've been a fan of Altra hiking shoes for years due to the wide toe box. I have an issue with my little toe rubbing a blister on the toe next to it, and being an avid backpacker, blisters are a no-no. The Lone Peak has a toe box that has alleviated this problem. My toes can spread out and not touch one another. I also like that the shoe has a zero drop, so your feet are in the position as if you were walking barefoot. They have the grippiest sole of any brand of hiking shoes I have used over the years. These shoes dry quickly when wet, enabling me to wade streams where the stepping stones are too far apart for my comfort without taking the time to remove them. Within an hour the shoes are usually dry. It was great that these were on sale when I went looking for replacements for my old Lone Peaks. The only drawback is that they are minimalist shoes, therefore they do not last as long as heavier hiking shoes, but that is not a deal breaker for me. I don't need to use leg weights (heavier boots) when I hike...my pack is heavy enough.😆

working in healthcare
working in healthcare my shoes go down fast!! i kept getting the cheaper brands due to how fast mine run down but i decided to spoil myself and get these. super glad i did!! not only are my feet super happy from the wide toe of the shoe, but i don't have leg/feet pain due to uncomfortable materials. super breathable, and will be buying again once these are on the end of their use.

repeat purchasers size down
Lone Peaks took me through Trans-Catalina and an Ironman. Love the roomy toe box and zero drop.Over the years, I've modified them with custom orthotics which seem to wear the sole more evenly and extend their mileage before something new starts to ache on long training runs. Lace locks or similar shock cord and clamp make these easy to slip on/off in fast transitions if you are a heel crusher and eliminate mid-run shoe lace reties. These days, I preemptively line the heel pockets with duct tape because I tend to wear through the material there first.I noticed when I slipped the orthotics that fit snugly into a Lone Peak 6, I can fit a screwdriver width (1/2 cm) between the orthotic and the heel wall on this version. I'm speculating that this was an effort to bring Altra sizing more consistent with the standard across brands because I've always been a 1/2 size bigger in Altras than my other shoes... but the next pair I purchase will probably be a W's 8 not an 8.5 with closer scrutiny on the exchange policy.Happy trails!

Saved my feet
Literally the best and most comfortable shoes I’ve owned. I was a Brooks girl, I thought for life, but I finally accepted that they just hurt my feet. I bought these last minute for an NYC trip and well over 100K steps later, my feet are just a little sore instead of causing actual pain. Now that I’m used to the wide toe, I actually think they look pretty cute, too. Now I just need dressier shoes that don’t kill my feet and I’ll be set.

Great shoes. Wear down too fast
This is by far my favorite pair of running shoes I’ve ever bought. I just wished they lasted longer. This is the second pair I’ve gone through. My first pair I had to replace because it wore down in the back of the ankle. I hoped it was a fluke and ordered a replacement. Unfortunately this pair is doing the same thing. I’m not sure if I’ll order these again. I shouldn’t have wear this quickly consistently on a pair of $140+ shoes.
