Expensive but very good
An eye watering cost for 8 licenses - and don't forget this is just the licenses, you still need to buy the cameras and the Synology diskstation itself. That said, the system is very configurable.I run Surveillance Station on my DS1821+ and store the CCTV footage onto a dedicated 8Gig western Digital Purple disk. The DS1821+ is also my main data server and runs my websites. I stream the surveillance from my cameras via a dedicated 1Gig link that connects to a PoE switch where the cameras are plugged into. Surveillance Station is a great system and is highly configurable. With all that in mind, I accepted the cost of £300 for eight licenses which, added to the 2 licenses that come with the surveillance station allows me to connect ten cameras to my system. So despite the cost, just swallow hard and pay it. You get a great system and the licenses are perpetual. The software is always being updated by Synology.

Works perfectly
This single device license for Synology Surveillance Station works perfectly and was very easy to install. Simply open the booklet and there's a credit card sized card with a code on which you enter into the License section of Synology Surveillance Station. The whole thing was done in less than 2 minutes.I'm more than used to Synology charging premium prices for the addons and accessories and this is no exception. You can use up to 2 cameras by default on Synology and if you want to use more you have to pay the price! It would have been nice if this was a digital download rather than an item than needed sending through the post, perhaps it could have been a bit cheaper if that was the case.

Software Key
It is a software licence key, what more can I say?

Pricey but worth it
Synology site works really well. Price is mental though. Make sure your account is registered and when you add this license it should show up in your account. This is very important! I'd you lose the code and it was not on your account then you must buy another license.Surveillance station work really well and I honestly can't fault it.

License works
The license works as described, 8 licenses for the Synology surveillance system.-1 star because I don't understand how it can be right that I need to pay Synology more than the value of a camera to add a camera to hardware that I fully own.

Worth the investment !!
If you need an additional camera on your Synology surveillance station you will need one of these, a bit pricy but worth it as now I have no longer got any blind spots.

Not a modern or measured format
You get exactly what is described - A license to add a camera to your Synology NAS. I love my NAS and highly recommend Synology. However these licenses are a bit bizarre if i'm honest, why does this need to be sent in the post? The answer is that it doesn't and given that Synology are such an advanced tech company it seems a bit odd. The second problem is a little more complex, I understand licenses shouldn't be free. It makes sense that a company using an expansive system should be paying for the privilege but when it comes to domestic consumers the model just doesn't justify the cost. Most domestic consumer like me require 1 or 2 licenses and are therefore paying a premium for each license. The majority of people who benefit from a pack of 4 or 8 licenses are going to be business and so I feel like the price of a single license is just too high. P.s Send me a free NAS :)
