Fast. Powerful. Noisy.
We use these in a museum program I work with, and when I saw how quickly it loaded and ran Microsoft's latest flight simulator, I was amazed. The first thing that impressed me was how well the computer was packaged. Although Amazon shipped it in an outer box with no padding, the inner box more than made up for it. Three layers of cardboard and dense foam ensures this computer gets where it's going in prime shape! Next, the form factor is about 30% smaller than what you'd expect a high-end gaming computer to look like. While this limits upgrades, this system doesn't need many. About the only thing I can see doing is adding another M.2 SSD for expanded storage. This sucker is fast -- quick boots to a desktop in under 30 seconds. Restarts in about a minute. Setup was easy although not quick as it downloaded and installed a year's worth of Windows 11 and Republic of Gaming system updates. There was some initial confusion between the Windows Updater and Asus' System Updater, but they negotiated and came to an agreement in about an hour. The small size and powerful components means there will always be some combination of fans running in this box, and that's evident from when you turn it on. During extensive play, the 13th Gen i7 CPU climbs into the 80 degree range, but the liquid cooler spins up and brings it back down fairly quickly. The USB ports are well laid out but it's a bit disappointing to have only one USB-C in a machine this powerful. BLUF: you almost can't buy the components and assemble this computer for the price! It's worth it.
