A Highly Recommended Read
The Miracle of Bio-Identical Hormones, 2nd editionThis book contains a lot of empirical information culled from years of working with men and women. If you are looking for the double blind studies you won't find it here because they are very expensive and no drug company, nor apparently the Federal Government, will fund them. The hormones are non-patentable so why would a for profit drug company fund a study from which they can not make patent level profit? I have provided excerpts to health care providers and have given this book to my sister and two daughters because the information contained within it may help with their medical conditions. Hopefully they can find health care providers where they live who will be open minded to learn from their patients and recognize that Medical School did not prepare them well for this topic. While no one book can provide all the information one needs to make informed decisions, this book goes a long way. My major concern is that it focuses so heavily on trans-dermal medication administration and does not even address the sub-lingual administration route from either a reason why they ignore it or to advance the reasons for considering it as an alternative for the trans-dermal route. For the price it is both an easy read, and provided a lot of information to use when working with a medical professional on the issues addressed. The book provides some prescription writing examples which we were able to effectively use in a collaborative way with our health care provider and local compounding pharmacist. I strongly recommend this book for there are areas addressed here which one would not necessarily think of being alleviated by Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement.

Importance of Progesterone & Nutrition for Wellness
This is an easy read, comprehensive book about your hormones and how they make you "tick". How important it is to balance our hormones and ALL hormones. I was so fortunate to have found this book on Amazon 2 yrs ago. I have since bought more than 15 and gave them to friends who are suffering with health issues. I had started reading about hormones 15 yrs ago, my gynocologist kept saying as long as I had a period I was "staying young". I never was sent off to a lab for any hormone work-up, not ever in 30 yrs. In 2003 at 59 yrs old I finally went into menopause. I read about Dr. John Lee's books to prepare myself for the time when my doctor would put me on HRT. Which I really did not want to take. Well in 2008, 2 yrs ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I had Stage I, but really and truely did not understand why I got it. I had a mastectomy, I had no history, no smoking, no drinking, no birth control pills, but I did have fibrosystic disease for thirty years. Well, I found out from my oncologist that I had been making my own estrogen, I was overweight and that stored my estogen, that a late menopause was a precursor to breast cancer/disease. All the while, my gynocologist of 30 yrs. watched me, ordered my mammograms, never told me to lose weight....just that "I was staying young". Through reading this book 2 yrs ago, I sought out Dr. Platt, who is a 5 1/2 hr drive for me. He required me to do a complete, the most complete blood panel I have ever had in my life (I was also under the care of my internist). Dr Platt is so knowledgeable in the art of getting the whole body healthly. I feel great! I lost 28 lbs. I've been "tweeked". This book is the TRUTH to WELLNESS for Men & Women! God Bless!.....KThe Miracle of Bio-Identical Hormones, 2nd edition

Well-Presented Breakthroughs
Eye-opening medical info, and it is written in an engaging style. Platt produces cases where his treatments with bioidentical hormones have worked--the stories are riveting. I'm amazed the medical community is more or less ignorant of the important evidence presented here and elsewhere. Unfortunately, there is a logical explanation for it, as Platt explains. This book (and two others, "Trim,Healthy Mama" by Allison and Barrett, and "Natural Hormone Balance for Women" by Reiss, M.D.)gave me the incentive to take personal action! As a result, I've asked around and found a local Nurse Practitioner who will work with me on balancing my hormones. I've had blood tests done. Two days ago the tests came in and I discovered I'm Estrogen-dominant, which means I have the danger of developing breast or uterine cancer. I had no idea. I'm fairly healthy and people often tell me I look young for my age.The next step will be to talk with my NP and to start supplementing bioidentical hormones which will subdue the out-of-control estrogen. I'm looking forward to gaining the health this progesterone-deflated,baby-boomer body sorely needs. Read this book and others to get a handle on your health. Read, read, read. Don't leave it up to your doctor. Don't depend on ObamaCare. It's up to YOU.P.S. To find a doctor, Physician's Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner who is willing to pioneer in natural biodenticals, ask your pharmacy if they are a "compounding pharmacy". If they aren't, ask them if they know of one. When you've located one, inquire to see what health care professionals use their facility to make bioidentical compounds for their patients. Also, I read that you can get lab tests done more cheaply at [...] or [...] without a doctor's prescription. "Trim, Healthy Mama" (the chapter on hormones) clearly spelled out which hormone tests to get. Of course a good health care professional can be of great help. Just make sure they recommend NATURAL--not synthetic-- hormone replacement.
