Easy to calibrate and functions as you would expect

I'm using this meter a bit off label of its intended purpose, primarily as a pH meter for brewing beer. Knowing pH when brewing is important, but specialty pH meters for brewing can be get pretty expensive, so I was interested to see how this one performed.Generally this meter is quite easy to use, with a very clear display. It is surprisingly solidly built for the price and actually feels like a quality piece of gear. Switching modes and operating the meter are easy, and I did some basic tests on the other modes like salinity and PPM. I don't have any test equipment to verify those modes rigorously, but I have no reason to doubt their accuracy and the measurements seem generally accurate.For brewing, the pH performance seems to be pretty good and the meter gives results consistent with other pH meters I have with plenty of resolution. It includes temperature compensation as well, which puts it in a league above some of the really cheap pH meters out there. Beware that for good results you should probably calibrate the pH meter every single time using reference buffer solutions. This is not unique to this meter and is something you really need to do with all decent pH meters; the reference solutions are very cheap and easy to find elsewhere on Amazon and there are a couple sachets included with the meter. You also need to take care to wash the probes with neutral water after use and store it carefully if you want the probe to last. Finally, be careful when doing calibration to follow the correct order of solutions-- you need to test the solutions in the order specified in the manual. If you're just using this to test pool water or similar like its intended function I don't know if this level of care is necessary, but if you want the best results you need to treat it with some care.One other note is PPM dissolved solids meter has actually turned out to also be useful to get a decent idea of how pure the water I'm using is.So yeah, this meter is pretty good and does what I want quite well despite not being what it was designed for.

We got this product because it's able to check the EC (electrical current) in water after hydroponic plant food is applied. The EC can be measured once minerals are added to the water used for the hydroponic system and from what we can tell, this tester is accurate. We've owned it for a while and our plants are thriving and don't show any signs of leaf "burning" from consuming too much plant food. Overall, we're satisfied with this product. It helps us cut down on our grocery budget by allowing us to grow our own food.

I'm super happy with this handy little tool. I needed it for checking the PH levels mostly, and it works great. Easy to use; no fuss, no trouble. It does exactly what I needed it to do at a low price.

I could never get the meter to calibrate pH correctly after following the instructions precisely umpteen times. It always calibrated to 10.0 even though I was initializing the calibration process with the 7.0 solution as directed. So, I have no idea if the Salt or any of the other readings are correct. I returned it. Uiuzmar offered a full refund.

This is a nice, compact, water quality tester that can be used in situ (surface measurements only) or in vitro. The tester comes with two packets each of pH 4, 7 and 10 buffer powders which make up 250-mL of buffer solution. The buffer powders do not appear to be NIST-traceable (National Institute of Standards & Technology) but a comparison of the pH 7 solution with an NIST-traceable pH 7 buffer was quite good, if not perfect, and this was without calibrating the tester first. The tester feels substantial, and it does use O-rings which some testers do not use. The instructions are readable and clear and there is a video that explains how to calibrate the tester for pH and conductance. The temperature, TDS (total dissolved solids), salinity, and conductance values of distilled water seem reasonable, and the values can be reported in a variety of units including Celsius or Fahrenheit, milli- or micro-Siemens/cm (mS/cm or µS/cm, respectively), parts per million, parts per thousand, or percent. Probably my only complaint is that the tester is shipped in a box with a plastic insert (which was already cracked) and not in a case for field work, and there was no conductance standard provided. Understandably, the pH standards are not NIST-traceable but traceable standards would increase the cost of the tester and they can be purchased separately.PROS• The tester comes with batteries (but no spares).• There are two packets each of the 4, 7 and 10.01 buffer powders and the pH 7 compared reasonably well with the NIST-traceable standard.• The tester is assembled using O-rings.• The instructions are readable and seem accurate and there is a video available on calibration procedures for pH and conductance.CONS• A case would have been nice for field work.• No conductance standard was provided.
